The Phantom in GTA V is a semi-trailer truck heavily based on a Peterbilt 359 EXHD with a raised roof sleeper, with the hood shape, air cleaners, and cab roofline taken from a Peterbilt 389. It features a large heavy-duty bumper, a silver/chrome finish on the front nose with a large grille, dual circular headlights, and cursive "Jobuilt" badges.
The main cabin is elevated, with large fuel tanks, cab skirts with additional lights, and two large air cleaners. The sleeper cab has circular marker lights, trumpet horns, and gold "JOBUILT" and silver "Phantom V24 Supercharged" badges on its sides. The truck can tow trailers and has a CB radio. It comes in several single colors for the cabin, sleeper cab, and front mudguards of the rear section, and uses industrial wheels.
The Phantom in GTA V has above average acceleration and an impressive top speed that can rival some sports cars. It is sluggish when cornering, and careful use of the brakes is required to offset understeer. The vehicle has excellent durability and can take several hard blows before giving out.
It has a high mass, easily ramming traffic out of the way, and can set vehicles on fire with just one hit at a decent speed. The performance is virtually identical to its GTA IV counterpart, with an acceptable speed for long-distance travel, but not recommended for off-road use due to its top-heaviness and slow acceleration on slopes.
It has a 24-valve Supercharged engine, with a traditional 5-speed gearbox, lacking the auxiliary gearbox altogether, and shares its engine sound with the Packer and the Pounder.
This vehicle cannot be modified.
Fame or Shame - Trevor and Michael chase Lazlow Jones in a Phantom found in front of the Maze Bank Arena.
If the player switches to Trevor right after the Fame or Shame mission, they can get and keep the Phantom.
The Phantom can be found at the Harmony Truck Stop on Joshua Road in Harmony, Blaine County.
The Phantom is often seen being driven around the Docks and on parts of the Great Ocean Highway.
The Phantom is frequently spotted alongside other tractor trailer trucks on highways outside of the city.
Sometimes the Phantom can be seen leaving Clucking Bell Farms in Paleto Bay, although it may be a different type of vehicle like a Hauler or a Packer. Typically, it is hauling a Cluckin Bell Trailer.
The Phantom and the Packer in Grand Theft Auto IV both claim to have a V24 Supercharged engine, however, they are too small to fit a V24 engine; the correct configurations are either a straight-6 or V8, which are common in many industrial trucks.
