Brett Lowrey in GTA V serves as the CEO of Bilkinton Research, a pharmaceutical firm engaged in a fierce commercial rivalry with Betta Pharmaceuticals. In 2013, Bilkinton unveiled a potent anti-erectile dysfunction drug named Priapol, trumping Betta's product, Mollis, in both cost and efficacy.
However, Priapol posed a significant risk of inducing heart attacks with prolonged use, prohibiting its legal commercial distribution. Lowrey attempted to sway FDA officials by offering an undisclosed monetary incentive to secure sales clearance for the drug.
In GTA V, Brett Lowrey is a figure involved in corporate manipulation. Lester Crest, a significant shareholder of Betta stock, uncovers a bribery arrangement and enlists Franklin Clinton to assassinate Lowrey.
This is done to prevent a deal that would have allowed Priapol to enter the market, benefiting the rival company Bilkinton Research.
Following Lester's instructions, Franklin eliminates Lowrey outside the Von Crastenburg Hotel in Richman. Lowrey's death leads to Priapol's failure in obtaining FDA clearance, resulting in a substantial decrease in Bilkinton Research's stock and a significant rise in Betta Pharmaceuticals' stock value.
The Hotel Assassination
Besides the news about Lowrey's death, there's also a news article from Daily Globe about a lawsuit against Redwood Cigarettes. This is a foreshadowing of the events of the next assassination mission.
