BZ gas is a throwable weapon in GTA V specially featured in The Jewel Store Job heist mission.
It is only available to the player if the smart approach is selected for The Jewel Store Job. In the setup mission, the player has to steal a Bugstars van to obtain the BZ gas grenades for the main heist. This weapon belongs to the throwables weapons class.

BZ gas is similar to Tear Gas and is just a non-lethal version of it. It looks exactly like a canister of Tear Gas based on the M18 smoke grenade. In the game it is stolen from a Bugstars van which is a pest control company.
The BZ Gas is not fatal and only knocks out the staff and customers at the Vangelico for a while without killing them. The Tear Gas, however, can kill an NPC if they stand in it for a while. The BZ Gas has no effect on NPCs and can only be used to throw into the air vent during the mission “The Jewel Store Job”. This weapon is mission-exclusive and cannot be obtained or used out of the heist.
This weapon cannot be customized.
This weapon can only be used in the smart approach of The Jewel Store Job heist. Franklin automatically has the BZ Gas grenade in his inventory in the Smart Approach of the Jewel Store Job as he has to go up to the roof and throw one into the air vent of the Vangelico store.
In the Smart approach, if Franklin has Grenades, Michael will notice the grenades and warn Franklin just before he reaches the vantage point to not throw a grenade by mistake.
The BZ Gas is not fatal like the Tear Gas featured in the game. It only knocks out the employees and customers in the Vangelico store.

A. Simply open the weapon wheel and navigate to the throwable section. The BZ Gas grenade’s HUD icon looks like tear gas canisters. After selecting it on the weapon wheel, it’ll be equipped by the player.
