Before joining The Lost MC, Clay Simons served in the US Army and was part of the security detail at the US embassy in Vietnam during the Fall of Saigon in 1975. He also spent time stationed in Thailand, where he frequented gentlemen's clubs.
Clay remained in the army until approximately 2005, after which he returned to civilian life and eventually became a member of The Lost MC biker gang.
In the events of GTA V, Clay Simons is a member of The Lost, a biker gang that relocates to Blaine County and gets associated with Trevor Philips. After Trevor kills Johnny in a fit of anger, he confronts Clay and Terry, mocking them.
The duo attempts to escape in a van to inform the gang, but Trevor has the option to kill both Terry and Clay, either during the chase on their bikes or at the trailer park along with the rest of the bikers. If Trevor spares Clay during the trailer park massacre and doesn't knock him off his bike earlier, Clay can flee, leaving his fate uncertain.
Clay Simons can be found wearing a dark green shirt over a pair of black jeans. He wears a leather jacket with a few stitched batches on it that seems to be uniform for all Lost MC members. He also wears dark colored gloves and a beanie.
Mr. Philips
In the cutscene for Mr. Philips, Clay is wearing a black beanie. This beanie will fall off if Clay is killed.
Clay's patch in Grand Theft Auto V reads that he is from the Los Santos chapter. However, he is still fleeing to Stab City chapter for help in "Mr. Philips." Johnny Klebitz's patch didn't change after The Lost and Damned and still says "Liberty City".
In The Lost and Damned, Clay is always seen with Terry Thorpe, whether as back-up or friend activities, much like Armando Torres and Henrique Bardas in The Ballad of Gay Tony.
