Derailed Mission In GTA 5

Derailed is a storyline mission in GTA V performed by Trevor Philips and Michael De Santa. This mission is unlocked after completing the mission The Paleto Score. In this mission, Trevor and Michael steal an ancient artifact that the Merryweather are transporting by the train.

At the beginning of this mission, Michael is seen in Trevor’s trailer. Ron enters the trailer asking for Trevor. While Michael and Ron are engaged in conversation, Trevor enters and tells Michael about the train Ron was talking about. Trevor and Michael leave the trailer after which Trevor instructs Michael to meet him under the rail bridge at Raton Canyon.

Trevor leaves on a dirt bike and has to jump onto a moving train. After jumping onto the train and making his way to the front, Trevor knocks out the driver of the train and informs Michael to be there under the bridge. Michael is then seen driving a boat toward the bridge. The player has to control the boat till Michael reaches the bridge.

This leads to a cutscene where two trains are seen colliding and crashing into the water from which Trevor is seen jumping into the water. Michael has to then use sticky bombs to open the doors of one of the containers that have crashed and find something expensive. While Michael is in the container, Trevor covers him and has to take out the Merryweather men approaching them- some in boats, some on the bridge and some even parachuting towards them. Once Michael finds something valuable, Trevor gets into the boat with him and they drive out of there. The Merryweather men chase after Michael and Trevor’s boat while Trevor takes them out one by one.

Once they are in the clear and out in the sea, Michael has to drive the boat to the beach where Ron has made arrangements for two vehicles. When they reach the shore, Trevor tells Michael to show him the score. Disappointed by what they retrieved, Trevor starts acting up and snatches the briefcase from Michael.

Michael promises Trevor that they’ll soon go for a bigger score that has always been their dream, the Union Depository, to convince him to hand it over back to him. Trevor hands over the artifact to Michael so as to settle things with Martin Madrazo and they both leave.

After Mission

After this mission, Steve Haines gets Michael and Trevor on a conference call and asks them to meet him at Cape Catfish to go ahead with the Humane Labs raid, as everything needed for the raid is now ready.

Trivia

During this mission, the train driver sits on the right-hand side of the cab. In regular gameplay, all drivers sit on the left-hand side.
The gold medal objective "Better than CJ" is a reference to the mission Wrong Side of the Tracks in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, which has Carl riding a dirtbike and chasing after a train in a similar manner to Trevor.
When Trevor is riding on the back of the Dinghy, he will use a Combat MG, even if the player does not have one.
This is one of the few missions where a time lapse always plays in the opening cutscene, even in replay mode.
The "inlet" that Michael refers to is actually an outlet, as water flows out of the Alamo Sea rather than into it.
