Dr. Isiah Friedlander in GTA 5

Dr. Isiah Friedlander completed a bachelor’s in marketing degree from the University of San Andreas, Los Santos in 1984 and later completed his doctorate in psychology from an unknown university by 1986. In the following year he started practicing psychotherapy and also traveled quite frequently to Asia.

Dr. Friedlander became one of the most well-respected and in-demand therapists in Los Santos as of 2013 and has treated both celebrities and criminals. At the beginning of GTA V we see him in a session with our very own protagonist, Michael De Santa.

Dr. Isiah Friedlander is Michael De Santa’s therapist who appears in the very first cutscene of the game after the prologue. Michael is seen talking to him about his family and about his past, letting out all his frustration. After this Dr. Friedlander lets him know that the session time has expired. Dr. Friedlander doesn’t always seem to care for his patients and is also seen making several Bleeter posts expressing his disdain for his patients.

Over the course of the game Dr. Friedlander talks to Michael quite often and also has a counseling session with his family after they leave him and his house and move in with Fabien. After this session, things get better between Michael and his family and they start living together again.

Later on during a session, when Michael talks about how things are going great with his family but not in the other aspects of his life, Dr. Friedlander tells him that he cannot be his therapist anymore as he has a new TV show. He leaves the office and Michael is angered by this. Michael then has the option to kill him or let him go as he leaves in his Red Comet.

Dr. Isiah Friedlander mostly wears a light blue shirt and beige trousers with brown shoes. He has curly hair,brown eyes and carries a french beard. He wears a wrist watch on his left hand and sometimes wears a pullover sweater over his shirt.

• An after-credits scene shows his Psychiatric Evaluation which notes the player's behavior. This includes, but is not limited to, the way the player makes friends, laziness, addiction to chaos, whether he thinks Michael justifies his actions, how often he partakes in hobbies like Yoga, and how he handles women.

• Michael will sometimes reference Dr. Friedlander when attacking pedestrians saying 'Come on kill me, I need something to talk to my shrink about', even after the events of the mission Abandonment Issues. This is most likely an oversight.
