Lester Crest is a character in GTA V who helps the protagonists with the planning and execution of heists and other jobs.
He is the brains of every heist and can also be called “the guy in the chair”. He has been part of the team since Michael, Trevor and Brad worked together in North Yankton in the past. He also moved to San Andreas and began helping Michael again when he needed to take some scores. Throughout the game he has been there to plan every heist even those that had only the smallest room for errors.

Lester Crest had applied as a faculty at the University of San Andreas, Los Santos sometime after he completed his studies, but was rejected. He took revenge by hacking their server. Lester had been a genius with computers and technology and at some point he got together with Michael and Trevor and helped them with their heists almost ever since they formed a team.
Lester was against the idea of robbing the cash storage facility in Ludendorff, North Yankton, but the rest of the team went ahead with it anyway and it turned out to be a disaster. Lester moved to Los Santos after this and purchased a few properties. He kept tabs on Michael and Trevor’s whereabouts after learning the outcome of the North Yankton job. Michael never mentioned Lester’s name to Dave Norton or any agencies and hence they were able to trust each other once again.
Lester meets Michael in San Andreas when Michael needs money to repay Martin Madrazo after destroying his house. Lester asks Michael to do a job for him first. He asks him to replace the prototype of a device at the Lifeinvader office to assassinate Jay Norris whom Lester was very irritated with due to his behavior and ethics in the running of his company.
Once the assassination is done, Lester helps Michael and Franklin plan the Vangelico Jewelry store robbery which is successful and covers the cost of the damage done to Madrazo’s house.
Later Lester asks Franklin to carry out a series of assassinations in order to profit from the change in stock prices that will take place due to these assassinations. Few of his targets were Brett Lowrey, Jackson Skinner, Isaac Penny and Enzo Bonelli.
Lester finally meets Trevor once again when Trevor steals a superweapon from the Merryweather security company and is told that it is a mistake and will put targets on their backs. Lester sets things right by making sure it is returned. He also helps in carrying out the heist on Blaine County Savings bank, rescuing Michael from Wei Cheng’s captivity, Micahel and Franklin in breaking into the FIB headquarters to delete files for Steve Haines and also to rescue Lamar from the captivity of the Ballas gang.
Towards the end, he finally helps the trio plan their dream heist of the Union Depository which also turns out to be a success. At the end, Lester helps Michael, Franklin and Trevor take out all their enemies by providing them with the necessary intel required.
After all their enemies are taken out Lester sends them their shares from the Union Depository heist and congratulates them.
Lester Crest has blue eyes and wears glasses. He wears a green checkered shirt and blue jeans with a brown belt. He has brown hair and is balding. He is mostly seen walking with a cane and wears gray running shoes.
The in-game version of Lester's artwork shows him wearing a red shirt instead of the green check shirt. This outfit is only seen in the Paleto Score when he meets Michael, Trevor, Franklin and the chosen gunman at Ace Liquor.
According to the Rush Casting Call, Lester's beta name was Jerry Cole.
Lester may in part be inspired by the character Kelso from the movie Heat. Both Kelso and Lester have physical disabilities, and both men are more involved with planning heists than with actually carrying them out.
Lester bears some similarities to Bentley from the Sly Cooper video game series as they're both criminals, their signature color is green, they're computer hackers and geniuses, they're handicapped and use a wheelchair.
If called after the mission Scouting the Port on his phone number while playing as Trevor Philips it is possible to initiate a cut phone call with the Coffield Center for Spinal Research at Mount Zonah, which is possibly a beta name for the Mount Zonah Medical Center.
