The Police Cruiser(Buffalo) or Police Buffalo is a law enforcement vehicle in GTA V. It is a police version of the Bravado Buffalo. It can be found spawned in various locations in the game.
Name | Police Cruiser |
Vehicle Class | Emergency |
Vehicle Type | Law Enforcement Vehicle |
Body Style | 4-door Sedan |
Capacity | 4 |
Manufacturer | Bravado |
Appearance(s) | The Ballad of Gay Tony GTA V |
The design of the Police Cruiser (Buffalo) in GTA V has undergone some changes from its appearance in The Ballad of Gay Tony. While the car's model remains the same, the livery has been updated to match other LSPD vehicles.
Notable alterations include a larger push bar replacing the previous NYPD-inspired one, the absence of an A-pillar-mounted spotlight, and updated emergency lighting featuring LEDs on the grill, roof, back window, and rear lights.
In the original version, the Police Buffalo lacks a two-digit number on the roof but features a badge on the hood. Occasionally, a version with a low-level spoiler can be found. In the enhanced version of the game, the vehicle receives further updates, including a new push bar on the front bumper, removal of the badge from the hood, and a metallic paint finish instead of the previous matte one.
The spoiler option remains available, and a small bug with the grill-mounted blue light has been fixed. The Police Buffalo is exceptionally rare in the game, primarily spawning near the Mission Row Police Station in Los Santos.
The Police Cruiser (Buffalo) exhibits well-balanced handling, offering better road grip than the aging Vapid platform it partially replaces. Due to its rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration, it tends to over-steer at low speeds, requiring high RPM to counteract it.
However, at high speeds, the Buffalo remains remarkably stable with minimal lift-throttle oversteer. Its crash deformation is average, and it's more durable than its unmarked counterpart, with the engine enduring several hits before smoking.
In GTA V, the vehicle retains its characteristics from GTA IV, with the notable improvement of increased durability. However, it's worth noting that its front axle is more susceptible to bending compared to other police cars, especially its Vapid counterpart. Nevertheless, the Police Cruiser (Buffalo) remains an excellent choice for most officers, provided it's driven with care.
This vehicle cannot be modified.
This vehicle does not appear in any storyline missions of GTA V.
Rarely spawns at the train station under the Olympic Freeway on Strawberry Avenue between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM. At the same location the Police Bike, Police Transporter and the Unmarked Cruiser can also be obtained.
Rarely spawns in Legion Square.
Can randomly spawn near the Mission Row Police Station, with an officer inside it.
Commonly seen driving around Pillbox Hill and Mission Row (enhanced version only).
Rarely seen at the entrance to the La Mesa Police Station.
In the Ballad of Gay Tony, the aerials on the roof seem to be misplaced, so much so that one appears to float in mid-air next to the car.
A Police Buffalo can be seen in the trailer for Grand Theft Auto Online, implying that, like the Interceptor, it would've spawned in the game normally while the player is getting chased.
The police scanner may mistake this Police Cruiser for its Vapid counterparts, despite this model being manufactured by Bravado.
