The Sniper Rifle in GTA V is based on the AW-F sniper rifle. It has the Shrewsbury lettering along with the logo on the sides. This sniper rifle has picatinny rails on the sides but no attachments to use on them. The sniper rifle can be fitted with an advanced scope which is an upgrade from the Default scope that comes pre-fitted on the gun.
It can also be used with a suppressor for stealthily taking out targets from a distance. This is a bolt-action rifle with a mag capacity of 10 rounds.
The Sniper Rifle is a very powerful weapon and can take out targets even at long ranges. The suppressor helps in killing targets stealthily. In close range the sniper rifle can kill pedestrians in a single shot but it might sometimes take more than one shot to take out armored targets instantly.
Usually after a single shot targets die by bleeding out. This weapon is good for long range kills and is most effective if the target is shot in the head which is easier with the help of the scope.

On top of the more northern of the two red/white smokestacks inside Palmer-Taylor Power Station.
Can be found on the top of the yellow water tower in Paleto Bay, Blaine County.
After Minor Turbulence, in the wreck of the Cargo Plane in the Alamo Sea almost directly north of Stab City.
Awarded to the player with 10 rounds, on entering a Police Maverick..
Found on top of the airport radar at Los Santos International Airport
Spawns on the observatory viewpoint, next to a telescope facing south at the Galileo Observatory in Vinewood Hills.
Used by SASPA guards at any watch towers of Bolingbroke Penitentiary.
In GTA IV and its episodes, the sniper rifle's bolt is on the right, but the player character will pull an invisible bolt on the left.
A possible overlook, when the Poor Weapons cheat in GTA IV is used, instead of receiving this rifle, the player instead gets the Combat Sniper. This makes the Sniper Rifle the only weapon that cannot be acquired by cheats.
In GTA V and GTA Online, after firing the last round of a magazine in first person, the character will unnecessarily pull the bolt and push it back into its position, as if there is still a round left, before initiating the reload sequence.
The Sniper Rifle in GTA V and GTA Online holds 10 rounds in its magazine, however the magazine juts out significantly further from the weapon than its real-life inspiration, and should be able to hold closer to 20 rounds.
