Sometimes when you’re playing in Survival mode, you may not want to invest too much time into hunting down animals that you may want to eat or tame for your personal uses. If this is a problem, then making a trap that can contain such creatures can be a great boon for your personal desires. In this case, we shall go over a few trap designs and how they can best serve you in your goals.
There are multiple avenues available to you when it comes to making a trap, meaning that relying on one set strategy or set of materials isn’t required. Some of the most common items that you may need are listed below:
In this case, we are going to go over one of the most popular and commonly used animal traps in the Minecraft community as an example. The pressure door trap:
Step 1
First, you will want to create four iron doors and one pressure plate.
Step 2
Place the four iron doors around the pressure plate to create a ring of sorts with each door facing its own direction. Also, make sure that all the doors are directly connected to the pressure plate, or else this will not work.
Step 3
Step onto the pressure plate itself and you should see all four doors closing in on you instantly, making it possible to trap a mob that is two blocks wide and high.
To use this animal trap effectively you will want to place a bait/food to get them to step into the trap. For cows, this would be wheat, for pigs potatoes, and so on. Once they are trapped it would be smart to use a lead to pull them towards a fenced-off location where they will be unable to escape and will leave them to be used for whatever it is you desire from them.
So long as they are not over two blocks high or wide the aforementioned trap should work on animals such as pigs, chickens, cows, and many other animals of similar builds.
If you want more physical demonstrations of this trap along with other types of traps that are at your disposal, then this video is just for you:
A smart player will set up multiple traps at once to catch multiple animals that they may desire. This may cost you more resources, but if you desire more animals, but don’t have the time to invest in physically catching them yourself then this is without a doubt the way to go.
