Bastion Remnant

A bastion remnant can be found in any biome in the nether except the basalt deltas. They cannot get generated there but can extend into them if the bastion was generated on the edge of a different biome. This happens because the game splits the nether into sections or regions, and these regions dictate whether a bastion or a fortress can spawn in them. These regions are usually 432x432 blocks in Java Edition and 480x480 in Bedrock Edition.

There is a buffer zone of 4 chunks which are on the south and east borders of these zones. Since this buffer zone does not add to the region size, it makes the sections in Java Edition 368x368 blocks and Bedrock Edition 416x416 blocks.

Structures such as bastion remnants as well as others will spawn in these sections, but two structures cannot spawn in the same region. However, they can overlap if they generate close to the borders of two regions. There are different chances for bastion remnants to generate in Java and Bedrock Editions, which are 60% and 66.6% respectively.

The mobs that spawn naturally along with the generation of the bastion remnant will not hunt each other or despawn naturally. This is also the only place where piglin brutes will spawn naturally, but if they are killed they will not respawn, and the bastion will continue to spawn mobs relevant to the biome it is located in.

A bastion remnant generates 4 different structures: bridges, treasure rooms, hoglin stables, and housing units. Piglins and piglin brutes spawn frequently throughout all these structures. Ramparts can also generate below these structures.

Bridges

Bridges are usually large structures that are made of ruined ramparts and have the face of a piglin carved on them. Inside the “mouth” of the carving, players will find multiple levels of hallways and walkways surrounded by lava.

Housing Units

Housing units consist of multiple ramparts which are arranged around a courtyard with a nether wart growing in the center.

Hoglin Stables

Hoglins stables are a three-part rampart with damaged hoglin stables on either side.

Treasure Room

The treasure room consists of a rampart that is supported by buttresses. The rampart will have some blocks of gold. The treasure room is suspended above the lava floor and consists of multiple bridges. At its bottom is the magma cube spawner, and a loot area that also has some gold blocks along with a few treasure chests. The loot pool for the treasure chests is different from that of regular chests which are found across the bastion.

Bastion remnants are filled with lots of loot to obtain. Piglins are not hard to deal with but try not to get surrounded by them. Plundering any bastion that you come across is definitely recommended. But they are also one of the most dangerous and toughest structures to beat. This structure is large, so proper studying of the structure is recommended before entry.
