A bell is a naturally generated structure that is commonly found at the center of villages. It is an animated entity and will produce a sound when used. To get one, you will have to find a village, as they cannot be crafted. They can be picked up by breaking them with either your hand or any tool.

A bell can be found in the center of villages and it is recommended to use a pickaxe to break them. Other ways to procure a bell include going through loot chests found around ruined portals, and through apprentice-level toolsmith and weaponsmith villagers who will sell you a bell for 36 emeralds.

When a bell is placed near a claimed bed, the bell will get claimed, which can be confirmed if green particles appear around the bell. Other than this, the bell is mostly used to make a noise. When a village is being raided by any enemy mobs, a villager will run to ring the bell, alerting the rest of the villagers to run to their homes. You can also wake up all the villagers when they are sleeping by ringing the bell. Bells are a mostly cosmetic item that is used for decoration by players.
Bells are pretty much useless for the player and are mostly used to decorate their bases. They do add a sense of immersion when villagers use them to alert everyone of an incoming raid. When a pigling spots a bell they will stop by it and admire them since they are made of gold.
