Budding Amethyst

Budding amethyst can be found in amethyst geodes. Amethyst geodes are made up of three parts: the outer layer consisting of smooth basalt, the middle layer made up of calcite, and the inner layer of budding amethyst, amethyst blocks, and shards. Amethyst geodes generate between Y=64 and Y=30. These structures will generate regardless of whether “generate structures” is on or off. There is a 1⁄24 chance of generating an amethyst geode in each chunk, which will override caverns and mineshafts (though amethyst geodes will not override anything else). Amethyst blocks can also be crafted from four amethyst shards.

Budding amethyst can be used to farm amethyst shards. Amethyst shards which can be used to craft Amethyst blocks (for building and decoration), create tinted glass (for decoration and light blocking), and for the creation of Spyglasses which players can use to view faraway objects.

Budding amethyst allows players to farm amethyst once they’ve found an amethyst geode. They can be particularly useful for players who want to build structures with amethyst, since each amethyst geode does not have enough blocks for most builds.
