After you’ve journeyed through the depths of the nether and scoured the highest reaches of the overworld you will eventually have a desire to enter the final destination of Minecraft. The end. It can be a rather time-consuming and difficult process to reach the end and traversing it can even be extremely dangerous. With enough preparation and know-how on the other hand, you can easily find your way to this dimension.
In a Nutshell:
To access the end dimension in Minecraft, search for a stronghold by throwing eye of enders to find out the general direction. Once you find the end portal in the stronghold, you will immediately notice that the portal is empty and inactive. Fill some of these blocks with their missing eyes of the ender in order to activate the portal.
To enter the end you are going to need to go on a search for a stronghold which is usually underground. This can make finding the portal a challenging prospect without a key item: an eye of the ender.
In this case, you are going to need many eyes of an ender as you will need to use this item many times to find a stronghold. To make an eye of the ender you will need two ingredients: Blaze powder and an ender pearl.
The blaze powder will only be acquired by a blaze in the nether so a trip there is mandatory to efficiently find a stronghold. An ender pearl can only be acquired from slaying an enderman so keep an eye out for them as well.
Once you have gained a sufficient amount of ender eyes you will then throw them which will allow the item to guide you in the general direction of where the stronghold will be. This will take several throws and by proxy several eyes because the eye travels only a short distance before dissipating.
Eventually, through enough trial and error, you will come upon a stronghold which you will need to navigate in order to find the end portal. Be careful when navigating the complex as you will encounter a multitude of mobs within. Navigating the area will be like navigating a maze, so a great deal of patience will need to find your destination.
Finally, after enough searching, you may finally come across the end portal. You will immediately notice that the portal is empty and inactive. With this in mind, you may also notice that some of the eyes of the ender on the ender blocks that make up the portal are missing.
This is because you will need to fill some of these blocks with their missing eyes of the ender in order to activate the portal. Take note, however, that in most cases the portal will only truly activate if you are standing within the inactive portal whilst filling the blocks with their eyes.
Once the eyes are in their rightful place, you will then notice the portal activate which will allow you to then enter it.
Keep in mind that, unlike the Nether portal, the end portal is a one-way trip until you defeat the ender dragon. With that in mind, take care to be extra prepared for the fight ahead, so that you have the proper equipment to slay the ultimate foe that will be confronting.
Accessing the end via creative mode is much simpler and more direct. You can get some end blocks that you can then place on the ground to form a portal. Just keep in mind that it has to be a 3x3 dimension square in order for this to work, and remember to be in the middle of the inactive portal while you put the eyes of the ender in the blocks.
It will no doubt take a great deal of trial and error in order to find the end portal in your Minecraft world if you are looking for it the old-fashioned way. With enough perseverance, however, it will all be worth it if it means technically completing the game and taking down your final foe.
