For all buildings in Minecraft, doors are a fundamental requirement. There should be a door in every building, even your first one. Without one, there will be angry mobs purging in to kill. You may start going towards fancier, more customized piston-powered doors later in the game, but it's better to only stick with the simple doors for now.
