How to Make Iron in Minecraft

The first thing you need to do to mine iron is to get a stone pickaxe. When you’re crafting any of the pickaxes in Minecraft, you will always need two sticks. To get sticks, you need some wooden planks. It is really easy to get wooden planks. To get wooden planks, all you need to do is punch a tree and get wood. You can then turn one piece of wood into four wooden planks in your crafting table.

Now that you have gotten your wooden planks, you can place them in the crafting table. Make sure to stack them on top of each other like in the pattern below. This will enable you to craft sticks.

Once you have your two sticks, you can now move on to getting the pickaxe. The thing to remember about the pickaxes in Minecraft is that you need one pickaxe to get the next because of the type of ore. This will make more sense in the future.

First, you are going to start with your wooden pickaxe. To get a wooden pickaxe, all you need to do is get two sticks and three wooden planks. Take these items to your crafting table and follow the crafting recipe below.

The next pickaxe in line is the stone pickaxe. To make a stone pickaxe, you have to use a wooden pickaxe. You only need three pieces of cobblestone and to get that, you have to mine three pieces of stone in a cave. Caves are lined with stone so it shouldn’t be very difficult to get stone. The stone in a cave will be any of the gray blocks that you see below.

Once you have obtained three cobblestones, and of course two sticks, you can head back to your crafting table. Each pickaxe has the same recipe but you just have to switch the crafting material. In this case, instead of wooden planks, you are using cobblestones. You can use the recipe below to craft a stone pickaxe.

Now that you have your stone pickaxe, you need to go find some iron. Go back into a cave and find some iron ore. Now that you have iron ore, you need a furnace.

To get a furnace, you will need 8 cobblestones. In your crafting table, place all the cobblestones in the crafting table like a square. Look at the crafting recipe below.

Now that you have a furnace, you just need to smelt your iron ore. One iron ore will smelt down into one iron ingot. Look at the picture below.
