To make scaffolding you will need to locate bamboo. This can take a long time considering how rare jungles can be. Bamboo forests are even more rare, but you can typically find a few stalks of bamboo even in regular jungles.
You can get string by defeating spiders or breaking spiderwebs. Anywhere spiderwebs spawn, there are likely spider spawns. Either way, you will need to locate spiders to obtain some string.
Kill spiders until you have a piece of string.
Place all required materials in the building grid and you should have your scaffold.
Scaffolding, as mentioned before, is used primarily as a method of ascending to heights that are outside of your reach.
With this device, it makes getting to locations or structures you have built all the more easy to accomplish, as you will have easier access to areas without having to waste precious time climbing up to them the hard way. They are an excellent way to save time essentially. All you need to do is place a scaffold in one area and then hold down the right-click button to stack one scaffold onto another in quick succession.
From there, you need to only hold the jump button with the scaffold to ascend it to reach your desired destination. Holding space will make your character ascend similar to climbing ladders. Keep in mind that if you destroy the bottom-most base of the scaffold the whole structure comes apart.
You can alternatively also descend the scaffold if you are on top of a great height by pressing the crouch button if you want. The amount of conveniences that can be made from such a simple item is greatly increased when you realize that you can add scaffolds to the side of other scaffolds even when at great heights, making a bridge very possible for your goals.
Keep in mind that scaffolding will break away if it does not have a strong anchor point. If there are more than 4 scaffolding without a strong connection to the ground, any resulting scaffolding may fall to the ground!
A. It’s more of a glitch than a hack that places a block underneath you if you are about to fall and have a stack of six scaffolds under you. If you have made a bridge of scaffolds from the elevation you have created and one of them is about to fall, quickly place another one beneath you and it should stay in place. This should allow you to traverse in the sky without issue.
A. By typing in the name scaffolding into the item search bar, you will immediately have access to the desired item.
