In Minecraft, the Mesa Plateau is a biome in the Overworld and is very rare to find. It is a high area of land that is made up of red sand and various colors of terracotta. Gold ore is found more commonly in the mesa biomes than in any other biome. So if you are looking for gold, this is a great biome for your mining expeditions.

Mesa plateaus come in three variants, namely F, M, and FM. The F variant is the most common one, it mostly consists of dead bushes along with dying oak trees and coarse dirt. The M variant is one of the rarest variations that you can come across, you will find random stained clay structures that can sometimes float. The last variant known is FM, this variant is a combination of the F and M variants.

The mesa plateau biome has very little wildlife with squids being the only passive mob you can find. Other mobs are mostly hostile mobs which are: zombies, skeletons, endermen, witches, spiders, and creepers.

Mesa plateaus is a unique biome with a very distinct color palette. It is one the rarest biome in the game making it nearly impossible to just randomly stumble across. Passive mobs are hard to come by whereas hostile mobs are quite common.
