In v1.0.14 Mojang added the minecart with a chest to the game, which can be used to transport items along rail tracks over long distances This is a welcome addition to the game as before this, players had to make multiple trips from one location to another to transfer large amounts of items.
To get yourself one of these, you need to have a chest along with a minecart already crafted beforehand. Combining the two is fairly simple. You need to place the chest and the minecart anywhere in the crafting grid since no special formation is required, and you have yourself a minecart with a chest.
The inventory size of the Minecart with Chest is identical to that of a single chest. You can access its inventory by interacting with the minecart while sneaking (crouching). The ability to transport items with you while traveling over rail systems is nice to have.
The Minecart with Chest has been a helpful and useful addition to the game. They even work with hoppers just like the Boat with chest, making them more than just extra inventory space.
