Pumpkins are blocks that are found on grass blocks similar to mushrooms. They can be used as both decorations and as a source of food. Naturally generated pumpkins are very rare, even rarer than diamond ore.

Pumpkins are naturally generated as part of multiple biomes in the Overworld. They only require a grass block with an air block over it. They are quite common in grass biomes but you can also find them in regular taiga and snowy taigas. Sometimes pumpkins will be generated in taiga and snowy taiga villages by replacing hay bales. Pumpkins can also be found inside supply chests found in shipwrecks.

Pumpkins are used for a variety of things- as food, for farming, for making golems, and as cosmetics.
Pumpkins can be turned into pumpkin pies by combining one with an egg and sugar in a crafting grid.
Pumpkin farming is similar to how melons are farmed. Planted pumpkin seeds grow into a stem that will produce a pumpkin after it has matured completely. On average, it takes about 10 to 30 minutes for a pumpkin stem to grow completely and it requires a light level of at least 9 or higher. If a pumpkin is harvested without also cutting the central stalk, another pumpkin generates afterward without requiring replanting or waiting for the stalk to mature again.
Carved pumpkins can be used to make snow golems and iron golems as shown below. Snow golems require snow blocks for their bodies, while iron golems require iron blocks. The carved pumpkin must be placed last or the golem does not spawn. The orientation of the carved pumpkin does not matter while building an iron golem or snow golem.
Pumpkins can be carved and then worn by players and most mobs as helmets. When worn as a helmet, the carved pumpkin will limit the player’s vision to a mask pattern that resembles the face of the carved pumpkin
