The Windswept Forest is a biome in the overworld. It was formerly known as the wooded mountains because the ranges were covered with different varieties of trees. They are usually found in areas with high humidity but are also found up north where they are covered with snow. The trees that are usually found here are spruce and oak, with grass covering the ground. It is usually surrounded by forested biomes like taigas and birch forests. Surprisingly, this biome is not a variant of the Forest biome, but one that comes under the Windswept Hills biome.
Of all the biomes in the overworld, the windswept forest biome is not one which grabs the attention of the average player. It supports life and settlements and has a few basic necessities easily available. The wood and wildlife available can make it compelling to set up base in this biome, as long as the hostile mobs are kept at bay. While the increased wood supply can be useful, the risk of fatal fall damage still exists, especially if this variant generates on the edge of a tall hill that borders a river or another low-elevation biome.
A. Windswept biomes are generally considered uncommon.
A. This biome has the same mob spawning chances as a windswept hills biome. The passive mobs of llamas, chickens, pigs, and sheep are seen. Hostile mobs would include creepers, witches, skeletons, endermen, and spiders.
