Amegakure (The Village Hidden by Rain)

As seen in the manga and the anime it is unknown who founded Amegakure and how it got established. It is however known that Hanzo ruled over Ame before it was taken over by Pain.

Amegakure is located between three of the five great shinobi countries. Due to this, it has frequently served as a battleground during the various ninja wars, making most of its population war refugees.

Amegakure has adopted isolation as its policy because of the constant war-waging, leading to the village's defenses being impenetrable. To enter the village, even the visitors and those coming for Chūnin Exams held in Amegakure, must go through several security checks and are under constant surveillance during their stay.

Amegakure was led for many years by Hanzō, a powerful shinobi; during the Second Shinobi World War, he slaughtered an entire platoon from Konoha, sparing only the young Sannin. Despite his power, Hanzō was deeply paranoid and would rarely appear in public for fear of being assassinated.

During the Third Shinobi World War, the Akatsuki tried to stir more panic among the villages in the war. Hanzo panicked and he conspired with Danzo and they came up with a plan. They claimed to be interested in cooperating with Akatsuki, Hanzō (with support from Danzo), ambushed Akatsuki's three primary members, and attempted to kill them all. After Akatsuki's leader, Yahiko, died, Nagato retaliated and slaughtered all of Hanzō's men, though Hanzō himself escaped.

After the end of the war, a civil war broke out in the village to remove Hanzō from power. The rebel faction led by Pain symbolized their rejection of Hanzō by placing a horizontal slash across their forehead’s headbands. With Pain's near-godly power and rumors that he was multiple people, Hanzō and his forces were overthrown, with Pain being the one to personally kill Hanzō.

Pain became Ame's new leader, he was seen as a ‘God’ by the people due to his contribution to the civil war. None ever saw Pain directly, his decisions were communicated to Ame's citizens by Konan who was referred to as the ‘Angel.’

The world was not aware of the fight that had taken place between Pain and Hanzo. They weren’t aware of Pain’s victory and still thought that Hanzo was in charge of Ame.

Pain uses Amegakure as his base of operations for his work with Akatsuki. Jiraiya’s investigation of the Akatsuki leads him to Amegakure where he meets Pain and they engage in battle. During the battle, Jiraiya is killed by Pain. Even when Jiraiya was on his last breath, he successfully managed to send the information regarding Pain’s identity and whatever happened in Ame back to Konoha. Realizing this Pain tries to stop it by planning to destroy Konoha.

Pain ultimately dies in Konoha, giving his life to aid Naruto Uzumaki's aspirations for peace. Konan becomes the new leader of Amegakure after Pain's death and swears Ame's support for Naruto's cause. She is shortly afterward killed in Ame by Tobi.

Hanzo:

The information regarding the person who founded the hidden rain is unknown. In the anime, it is seen that Hanzo is leading Amegakure. As Hanzo did not belong to any of the five great nations he couldn’t become a kage even though he deserved it. . He was the most powerful ninja and a Jonin leader of Amegakure. Under Hanzo, Amegakure wanted to defend and guard itself at all costs against more powerful enemies. So the increase in security locked the country against travelers and/or spies. He was later on killed by Pain.

Pain

After killing Hanzo, Pain became the leader of Amegakure. Many people supported this due to his contribution to the civil war. Some close people were aware of the work he had done in the rebel faction against Hanzo. They referred to him as ‘God’ and no one had ever seen him. All the messages to be delivered to him were done by Konan who was known as the ‘Angel’.

During his reign, pain used to make it rain every Sunday or whenever he left the village and this special rain helped him detect and check if any intruders or spies were entering the village. This made infiltration into the village very difficult. Pain later on dies in Konoha.

Konan

After Pain’s death, Konan takes the duty of the leading Amegakure and swears their allegiance to Naruto. She is later on killed by Tobi.

After Konan's death. No one took over Amegakure and over the years the state of the village detoriared and they became under-developed. Currently, the current leader of Amegakure is unknown!

There aren’t a lot of clans in Amegakure. One of them is

Geikami clan: The people of this clan reside in Ame itself. These people manipulate their chakra and give paper various forms to use in combat and are very skilled in origami. This clan can create vast weaponry, by paper various forms of weapons. The paper’s durability and usage depend upon how much chakra had been infused in it by the user.

A. It has been seen in Boruto that Ame has been left to rot in the dust and Kara has been conducting his experiments there.

A. The Kage of Amegakure is called Takigakure and Kusagakure.

Q. Who was the first Kage of Amegakure?

A. It is still unknown who was the first Kage of Amegakure but in the anime, Hanzo of the Salamander was seen leading the village although he never became the Kage.
