Kaguya Otsutsuki in Naruto

Kaguya and Isshiki were dispatched a millennium ago to cultivate a God Tree on Earth and gather its Chakra Fruit, with which she was to support the primary family of her alien clan. Kaguya was chosen as a sacrifice to the Ten-Tails in order to foster the growth of the God Tree but she betrayed Isshiki and left him to die as she desired the chakra fruit for herself.

Upon her arrival on the Land of Ancestors, Kaguya was brought before their emperor Tenji, where she introduced herself as the protector of the God Tree and later wiped Tenji’s memory of their encounter. Living among the people of the Land of Ancestors, she developed attachment towards the world she intended to destroy.

She grew intimate with the emperor and got pregnant. Tenji ordered his nation to not attack the Land of That after a dispute arose over the border. However, Kaguya disobeyed when she felt threatened which led to her and her assistant Aino being pursued by their land to be put to death.

Kaguya, losing her faith in humanity but yet yearning for peace, decided that she needed to become god-like to put an end to all of humanity’s wars. She consumed the chakra fruit and awakened the Rinne Sharingan and became the first person on the planet to be chakra-enabled.

Kaguya took control of the nations and put an end to the hostilities. She earned people’s blessing and became known as the Rabbit Goddess. She created an army of White Zetsu over a period of several years by utilizing the Infinite Tsukuyomi on people. She did so to avoid her clan from reclaiming her powers. She also rescued some victims under the genjutsu and erased their memories because she didn’t want humanity to perish.

Sometime later, she gave birth to her twin sons Hagoromo and Hamura, with whom she shared her chakra, which made them the first people to be born with it. Her dojutsu and jutsu were revered and feared by mankind because of her isolationist rule and frequent use of violence. Soon, she was known as the Demon.

Kaguya’s desire to control every chakra was what ultimately drove her against her sons. The twins were challenged to a fight when she devised a strategy to absorb their chakra. She integrated with the God Tree and assumed the form of the Ten-Tails. Just before her sons could completely seal her, Kaguya had manifested her will into an artificial human called Black Zetsu.

With the plan of reviving his mother, Black Zetsu manipulated Hagoromo’s sons, Indra and his descendants as well as his brother Ashura’s descendants over the course history of shinobi to launch the Eye of the Moon plan, which would ultimately result in her revival.

Revival

After the Infinite Tsukuyomi was cast, Madara Uchiha tried to tie up any loose ends by taking out Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, Kakashi Hatake and Sakura Haruno. Before he could do something, he was impaled in the chest from behind by Black Zetsu, who possessed Obito’s body. Much to Madara’s shock, Black Zetsu revealed his intentions and told them about the fact that everything was just a plan he had devised in order to revive Kaguya.

Madara starts getting encased in his own pliable bulk, which Naruto and Sasuke attempted to stop but both were ensnared by hair-like appendages as Madara’s body continued to grow and drew vast amounts of chakra from the Infinite Tsukuyomi victims. His body expanded until Black Zetsu’s mass entirely swallowed him which completed Kaguya’s resurrection.

She gazed at her surroundings and noticed marks on Naruto and Sasuke’s hands and threw them to the ground. Activating her Byakugan, she noticed Hagoromo’s and his sons' chakra and deduced that Hagoromo had given them his abilities. Upon being questioned about her intentions, she explained that earth is her nursery and she didn’t want more fighting to further harm it and soon she teleported Team 7 and Obito into a rumbling volcano, one of her own dimensions.

After they managed to survive, Kaguya once again struck them with her hair and fired needle-like strands at Sasuke, aiming with her Byakugan. She gets enraged after noticing Naruto’s power resembles that of her son and clashes with him declaring that all chakra in the world belongs to her alone.

She sent Sasuke reeling to almost fall into the lava when he tried to attack her. However, She entered into the dimensional void and teleported herself behind Naruto and Sasuke and cried upon their resemblance to her own children before forcing Black Zetsu over their bodies. Black Zetsu then told the duo about the past events that even Hagoromo was unaware of and everything that led to her revival.

He also told them about Kaguya being previously sealed by her own children, Hagoromo and Hamura by using the same powers that Naruto and Sasuke now possess. She stated how much she hated her sons to which Naruto grew enraged and ripped Black Zetsu off himself and Sasuke. Naruto attacked Kaguya after he managed to distract her using his Sexy : Reverse Harem Technique while Sasuke teleported both of them around her and began the sealing.

Kaguya immediately teleported them into a frozen dimension, encasing the duo and herself in the ice kingdom. She then escaped by creating a portal before the duo managed to break free. On Black Zetsu’s suggestion, Kaguya separated the duo by teleporting Sasuke into another dimension, which was a desert landscape.

Kaguya went to deal with Naruto and encountered his massive shadow clone army. She quickly retreats through her portal and is followed by Naruto, Obito and Sakura and one of Naruto’s clones. Black Zetsu asserts that Naruto is too dangerous when Kaguya shows her determination to reclaim the massive chakra within him. She disagreed and launched a jagged bone barrage on Naruto that impaled and disintegrated him.

She returned to normal dimension only to find Naruto’s shadow clone army intact. She deduced that she only took down one of his clones and that the real one has the Truth-Seeking Balls on his back. As she tried to kill Naruto, she was unaware that Obito and Sakura rescued Sasuke from her desert dimension. Kaguya teleported all of them to a dimension with heavy gravity in an effort to slow down and kill them easily.

She managed to kill Obito before moving everyone into her main dimension. Kaguya stood by quietly as Black Zetsu taunted Naruto about Obito’s death and was baffled when Naruto severed her arm in retaliation, which carried away Black Zetsu and pinned it to the ground.

After getting hit by Naruto’s Tailed Beast powered Rasenshuriken, she transformed into a rabbit-like chakra monster as the Ten-Tails’ chakra within her reacted violently to the chakra of other tailed beasts. Initially, she couldn’t control the power of the beasts but soon regained her hold and formed the tailed beast - mass into a giant Truth-Seeking Ball.

Team 7 attempted their final mission of sealing her and launched a well-coordinated series of attacks with the help of their respective abilities. As Kaguya attempted to flee, Sakura landed a hard punch on her head at the last second which caused one of her horns to break. Within a few moments she was sealed by Naruto and Sasuke when they made physical contact with her and activated the Six Paths — Chibaku Tensei. This was the same method that her children used to seal her about a millennium ago.

Under the effects of the fūinjutsu, Kaguya’s body transformed into the Ten-Tails and then into the Demonic Statue before being engulfed in the sphere. As the sphere closed up, Naruto dispatched Black Zetsu, who was hidden in Kaguya’s severed arm sleeve, into the new moon, preventing it from returning and reviving Kaguya ever again.

Kaguya was once a truly kind and caring person as noted by her son Hagoromo. Despite displaying an apathetic personality, she desired peace and later fell in love with Tenji, even though she never displayed her feelings for him. She also cared deeply about her hand-maiden Aino, whose death caused her to spill some emotions.

However, she deceived her fellow clansman Isshiki and nearly killed him for her personal animosity to own the chakra fruit for herself. She was treacherous and cruel towards people she didn’t care about. After devouring the chakra fruit, Kaguya developed both a god and messiah complex, and she believed that all the chakra belonged to her alone as she thought she could protect and bring about peace in the world.

She tried to love humans for the sake of peace, but her distrust in them proved to be far too huge as she grew to believe that all humans did was battle and destroy the planet. In spite of her desire for peace, Kaguya ultimately gave in to corruption as a result of her power and lost hope in people’s capacity to uphold morality.

She decided to utilize her immense and awful power to rule over everyone and she was soon viewed as a Demon, as Hagoromo remarked.

Kaguya also displayed affection as seen in her concern to protect earth, seeing it as her precious nursery which she does not want humanity to further harm. When Tenji deceived her for his own pursuit of peace, despite her love for him, it was not strong enough to keep him from trapping in the Infinite Tsukuyomi. The fact that she cried seeing Naruto and Sasuke who reminded her of her sons, suggests that she still loved them despite her openly admitting to hating her sons for using their inherited chakra against her and creating the Ten-Tails to take it back by force.

Even though Hagoromo and Hamura knew that their mother had committed immoral activities to shield them from the tribe she had previously left, they still had affection for her since they saw her as just a mother trying to protect her children. Kaguya herself admitted to her boys before their struggle that she had only even given them unconditional love and care and had freely given them access to her chakra until their betrayal caused her to strive to reclaim it. However, she was willing to hold Hamura prisoner and make him battle Hagoromo in order to retrieve her chakra, demonstrating how little she loved her kids.

Kaguya did, however, assert that Hagoromo’s love would stop him from killing Hamura, indicating that she went to regain her chakra without murdering her kids. It was later discovered that she was actually on a mission to bring chakra to her clan. However, after falling in love and having children with a human, she changed her objective and formed the White Zetsu Army to defend not only her children but also the people of Earth. This implies that she would have been a kind ruler if it weren’t for her clan.

Although she was somewhat obsessive about taking chakra from other people because she felt that it should only belong to her, she is open to Black Zetsu’s suggestion to kill Naruto in order to stop him and Sasuke from sealing her. However, she expressed resistance to the idea that she must destroy a significant amount of chakra in order to keep her freedom.

Despite her gloom, Kaguya can be shocked by unforeseen circumstances, as she was when one of Naruto’s perverse ninjutsu caught her off guard and allowed him to attack her. Hagoromo wasn’t sure why Kaguya turned out the way she did, but he thought that perhaps it had something to do with her eating the chakra fruit.

Kaguya has delicate facial features and light skin with incredibly long, grey sweeping hair. She has white, clear eyes, very short, rounded eyebrows that are a sign of aristocracy and she has scarlet lipstick on her lips. Her fingernails got longer and darker after she devoured the chakra fruit and her hair grew even longer and dragged over the floor.

She developed two brown horns that protruded from her head, and a third eye appeared in the middle of her forehead. These changes were the most striking.

She wore a high-collared hime-kimono with elaborate gold and purple lines that ran along the centre and corners of the dress. Kaguya transitioned into a horde of tailed beasts when her power went out of control. Her original body transformed into a massive rabbit-like monster with a humanoid upper body, sharp teeth and her trademark Rinne Sharingan on the forehead.

It had a large chakra mass in its back that was shaped like a sphere and had chakra arms and the heads of the nine-tailed beasts protruding from it. When Kaguya had her powers stripped away, she briefly reverted to her Ten-Tails form, with each tail ending with the head of one of the tailed creatures and the tenth ending with her rabbit head.

Before Kaguya ate the Chakra Fruit, she displayed extraterrestrial abilities. She was capable of intergalactic travel, putting subjects to sleep, hypnotizing them, erasing their memories and even unleashing a tremendous shockwave from her eyes that was capable of obliterating or seriously injuring targets.

After consuming the chakra fruit, she attained such unparalleled strength that she was able to end the world’s civil war on her own. This saw the populace of the world to fear her and revere her at the same time. Hagoromo lauded his mother’s power as being greater to all others, even more than his and his brother’s combined.

Kaguya has shown special abilities including the capacity to fly, merge with nature to manipulate the ecosystems of her realms, including ice and snow and the ability to read people’s thoughts and emotions.

Chakra and Physical Prowess

Kaguya has superior chakra reserves and strength after consuming the fruit of the God Tree, surpassing Madara as the Ten Tails’ Jinchūriki. She can absorb any jutsu she comes into contact with because she was the first person to ever use chakra on Earth.

Kaguya can immobilize an enemy while absorbing their chakra when she comes into physical contact with them. She strengthens herself by absorbing chakra from the Infinite Tsukuyomi’s tethered victims as a result of her connection to the God Tree.

She has demonstrated proficiency in unarmed combat, as evidenced by the ease with which she deflected many blows from Naruto’s all-encompassing shadow clone onslaught. She can move very swiftly as seen by the instantaneous appearance before Sakura Haruno and the short response required to avoid Sasuke’s teleportation-initiated Chidori, despite having to first change dimensions.

With Hagoromo lending Naruto and Sasuke the sole way to defeat her, the Six Path — Chibaku Tensei through the Yin and Yang Seals, Kaguya is said to be eternal and can quickly rebuild any lost anatomy, such as severed limbs. She also continued to be able to shape chakra despite being struck by nine different Rasenshuriken varieties and only suffered minor injuries.

Ninjutsu

Kaguya, as an Ōtsutsuki, is capable of launching a variety of jutsu without the need for signs because she was active long before the rise of shinobi and ninjutsu. She has complete control over her chakra and is able to use Yin-Yang Release and all five natural transformations. She can ensnare and fling enemies across the battlefield using her incredibly long hair as an improvised weapon. Kaguya has the ability to generate life in order to carry out her will.

Kekkei Mōra

Kaguya has a variety of unique abilities, some of which go back further than those that have been demonstrated. Kaguya can materialize giant chakra fists to attack the opponent with the Eighty Gods Vacuum Attack. The fists are strong enough to easily defeat a jinchūriki’s chakra arms and a Complete Body — Susanoo.

This method can be used defensively as well. She can force her long hair into an “Ultimate Defence” that shoots innumerable needles with enough ferocity to pierce Susanoo.

Kaguya has the ability to harden her bones with the All-Killing Ash Bones and fire weaponised projectiles from her hands or back. These bones will murder living targets by causing the body to fall apart into ash when they strike them.

The Expansive Truth-Seeking Ball, which she can create with the combined chakra of all those connected to the God Tree, is her strongest ability. According to Black Zetsu, it contains every chakra type and has the ability to change the world by effectively creating a new dimension from nothing.

Byakugan

Kaguya wields the Byakugan allowing her to view the chakra channel system and an almost 360 degree field of x-ray vision (with the possible exception of a small blind patch at the upper thoracic vertebrae). She remarks that her Byakugan is particularly strong, far stronger than that of her younger son Hamura.

She saw the chakra gathered in their palms and route systems, and using her Byakugan, determined that Naruto and Sasuke shared the same chakra as her sons and Hagoromo’s children. With the help of her hair, Kaguya is able to see her opponent’s weak places and precisely pierce them in order to render them entirely immobile.

Rinne Sharingan

Oh her forehead, Kaguya wears her Rinne Sharingan as a third eye that is red in color and has nine tomoe in addition to multiple concentric rings. Her third eye also gives her access to the Sharingan’s skills, including the ability to perceive chakra flow, cast and recognise genjutsu and have enhanced senses.

She has the ability to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi on specific targets using the Rinne Sharingan’s strength. She can instantly transfer herself and others around her to a new dimension while also deleting their chakra with the aid of her third eye. Kaguya is also capable of opening rifts in space and using them as a means of instantaneous travel.

Kaguya can control the God Tree’s roots to enclose anyone caught in her Infinite Tsukuyomi, slowly robbing the majority of the population of their unique personalities, distinguishing characteristics and originality. She can quickly absorb the chakra of everyone connected to the God Tree, allowing her to grow stronger.

Tailed Beast Transformation

In order to reclaim the chakra that her sons have inherited, Kaguya combined with the God Tree to transform into Ten-Tails. In Naruto’s Sage Art: Super Tailed Beast Rasenshuriken, Kaguya’s chakra reacted to the tailed beasts chakra as they were fighting Team 7.

This caused her to mutate into an unstable, rabbit-like form of the Ten-Tails. Black Zetsu hinted that the metamorphosis wasn’t purposeful and wasn’t humanoid, suggesting that she can also change into the Ten-Tails at will.

She needed to absorb chakra from victims imprisoned inside the Infinite Tsukuyomi when she was turned into an unstable Ten-Tails by Naruto’s strike in order to get back to normal.

“This place… this earth is my precious nursery. I cannot allow you to damage it anymore… Let us end this battle… here… I shall erase you all from existence right now.”

“I hate you.. Hagoromo… Hamura… You both belong to me.”

“Again.. I, the ancestor of all chakra… am defeated by these scattered chakras… why!?”
