Naruto Uzumaki

Naruto was born on October 10 in the Hidden Leaf Village in the Land of Fire. Despite being the child of Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, Naruto was raised there as an orphan. Both of Naruto's parents gave their lives during the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's attack on the Hidden Leaf, the day before Naruto was born. Minato locked half of the chakra from the Nine-Tails inside the newborn Naruto as his final act.

As the Jinchuriki of the Demon Fox, Naruto faced many hardships over the years. He was feared and despised by the residents of the village as they saw him the same as the Demon Fox. This led to Naruto seeking attention from others and he would often pull pranks for the same.

Realizing the situation, Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, forbade the citizens to mention the Nine-Tailed Fox, hoping the new generation would not see Naruto as a monster and Naruto may be able to find some companionship. Despite Hiruzen’s attempt, most of the younger generation mimicked their parents and maintained their distance from Naruto.

This eventually made Naruto decide to become the Hokage, the leader of the Hidden Leaf. He believed if he became the Hokage, no one would ignore him and he would be acknowledged.

Naruto was not aware of who his parents were and received a monthly allowance from Hiruzen for his monthly expenses. Naruto received his mother’s surname, Uzumaki because Hiruzen wanted to keep his lineage a secret to protect Naruto from potential threats from his father’s enemies.

He managed to get enrolled at the Hidden Leaf Ninja Academy and on the day of his enrollment, he met young Hinata Hyuga, the Byakugan Princess, who was getting picked on by three bullies for the strange appearance of her eyes. Being the kind soul he is, Naruto attempted to protect Hinata from the bullies but was outnumbered and defeated. The bullies damaged the red scarf he was wearing. Hinata thanked him for protecting her and returned his scarf but Naruto let her keep it. Although Naruto was unaware of it, Hinata’s affection for him began at that moment.

Iruka Umino, who served as a de facto older brother to keep Naruto in line and motivate him to work more, became a teacher to Naruto while he was a student at the Academy. Sasuke Uchiha, a classmate of Naruto's, was also by himself, so Naruto made an effort to make friends with him.

But out of jealousy of Sasuke's abilities and fame, he formed a one-sided rivalry in his quest to outperform Sasuke and hoped that one day, Sasuke would regard him as an equal. Additionally, Teuchi, the owner of Ramen Ichiraku, and his daughter Ayame became close friends with Naruto, and they accepted him as their favorite customer.

Although Naruto was determined to become strong and worked hard for it, but lacked a certain skillset, which was later implied was a side effect of the Demon Fox’s influence on his chakra network. He once again failed the graduation exam as he was not skilled in clone jutsu, a necessity for graduation from the Academy. Mizuki, a shinobi of the Hidden Leaf Village, approached Naruto who was disappointed.

Mizuki instructed Naruto to steal the Scroll of Seals and informed him that he mastered a jutsu from it and that he would graduate. Following Mizuki's instructions, Naruto stole the scroll and mastered the Shadow Clone Jutsu. Little did he know, Mizuki manipulated Naruto to get his hands on the scrolls.

Iruka tracked Naruto’s whereabouts and realized that Naruto was manipulated and trapped Naruto. Mizuki attacked them and told Naruto that the Nine-Tailed Fox was sealed inside of him. Mizuki also claimed that Iruka hated Naruto’s guts and was just manipulating him as he wanted to get the scroll from him.

Filled with confusion, Naruto ran and hid. Mizuki accused Naruto of being a beast, but Iruka refuted his claim and stated that Naruto was a kind soul, works hards but messes up sometimes, but he is not a beast. Naruto was moved by Iruka’s words and rushed to rescue him. Naruto used his newly masted Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu and defeated Mizuki. As he mastered the forbidden jutsu, the Shadow Clone Jutsu, he was allowed to graduate from the Ninja Academy and became a genin of the Hidden Leaf.

After graduating, Naruto was assigned to Team 7 consisting of Naruto, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno, led by Kakashi Hatake, a jonin of the Hidden Leaf Village. In their first C-rank mission, Naruto headed to the Land of Waves to protect a bridge-maker, Tazuna. Later, it turned out to be a B-rank mission as Tazuna was being chased by Zabuza Momochi, the Demon of the Hidden Mist. In this mission, Naruto fought alongside his team against Zabuza and Haku and came up with his ninja way, that he would never give up, no matter what are the odds.

After serving in Team 7 as a genin for quite some time, he participated in the Chunin Exam with the rest of his squad. In the Forest of Death, he faced Orochimaru, who puts a seal on Naruto to restrict his chakra flow. Through his guts to never give up, he qualified for the preliminary exams and was matched up against KibaIzuzuka and Akamaru.

Although it seemed like he would lose, he defeated Kiba and qualified for the final round. In a later match, Neji Hyuga fought against Hinata Hyuga and was fighting with the intent to kill, but was stopped by jonins. Naruto was enraged by Neji’s ruthless approach and vowed to defeat Neji.

Before the final round, Kakashi decided to train Sasuke, who had received a curse mark from Orochimaru and was struggling. He left Naruto under the care of Ebisu. Ebisu started training Naruto in chakra control but they were interrupted by the sudden appearance of Jiraiya, the Hermit Sage. Jiraiya was peeping on ladies in hot spring, which he claimed was for his research.

Ebisu was enraged by this indecent display and approached Jiraiya but was knocked unconscious by Jiraiya. Naruto argued with Jiraiya for knocking his trainer and asked him to train him instead. Although Jiraiya refused at first, he succumbed to his weakness when Naruo used his Sexy Jutsu to convince him.

Naruto began his training for learning the Summoning Jutsu under Jiraiya’s tutelage, but after numerous attempts, he was only able to summon small tadpoles. Jiraiya was hoping that Naruto would tap into the chakra of the Nine-Tailed Fox lying dormant within him but that was not the case. Jiraiya adopted a different approach and threw Naruto off a cliff, hoping Naruto would tap into that dormant chakra in a life or death situation, in which he succeeded. Naruto summoned the Chief Toad of Mount Myoboku, Gamabunta.

To Naruto’s luck, he was paired against Neji in the final round. Everyone believed that Naruto was destined to be defeated as Neji was a prodigy of the renowned Hyuga clan. Despite public belief, Naruto defeated Neji with his unique skills and unwavering will. In the last match of the exam, Sasuke was paired against Gaara of the Hidden Sand.

As their battle reached its conclusion, the Hidden Sand Village along with Hidden Sound Village infiltrated and launched an attack on the Hidden Leaf. Hiruzen fought against Orochimaru, who was behind the attack, and Naruto along with the rest of their teammates was sent to fend off Gaara. While everyone else failed to team Gaara, Naruto managed to defeat him. On the other battlefield, Hiruzen defeated Orochimaru and sealed his hands, but had to pay for that with his life.

After Hiruzen’s demise, Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki, members of the infamous criminal organization, the Akatsuki, infiltrated the Hidden Leaf. They were confronted by Asuma Sarutobi and Kurenai, jonins of the Hidden Leaf. As they were struggling against them, Kakashi joined them on the battlefield but was left incapacitated by Itachi’s Tsukuyomi. They were recused by Might Guy and Itachi and Kisame fled from the village.

Jiraiya was offered the position of the Fifth Hokage, but he refused and recommended his former teammate, Tsunade Senju for the job. Jiraiya left on a journey to track Tsunade and took Naruto with him, to protect him from Akatsuki, who were after him for his tailed beast. Naruto did not know about this and was skeptical at first to go with him, but agreed once Jiraiya promised to teach him a Jutsu stronger than Sasuke’s Chidori.

Jiraiya and Naruto made the decision to rest and acquire information while traveling by stopping at an inn in Shukuba Town. The allure of a beautiful woman entices Jiraiya to leave Naruto. Jiraiya quickly became aware that she was being affected by a genjutsu and hurried back to Naruto. When he came back, he discovered an injured Sasuke laying on the ground and Naruto being pursued by Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki.

They were imprisoned by Jiraiya using his Summoning: Toad Mouth Bind Jutsu, but they were able to escape thanks to Itachi's use of Amaterasu to burn through a wall and open a doorway. Might Guy made a startling arrival and unintentionally attacked Jiraiya before apologizing. Jiraiya instructed Guy to take Sasuke back to the village to get medical attention and informed Naruto why the Akatsuki was after him.

Later, as they were pursuing Tsunade, Jiraiya introduced Naruto to Rasengan and got him started on his training. Despite using several unusual techniques that were unique to him, Naruto was able to master the first and second steps of the training with a bit of struggle.

Jiraiya eventually ran into Tsunade and her associate Shizune in a Tanzaku Town tavern. After learning that she is supposed to be the Fifth Hokage, Naruto challenges her to a fight, which she easily won, because he disapproves of her making fun of the Hokage position and his goal.

Tsunade makes fun of Jiraiya and Naruto for using a flawed Rasengan in their fight, saying that there was no point in teaching Rasengan to someone who would never be able to master it. Tsunade placed her necklace on Naruto's wager that he would learn the jutsu in a week since he was furious with her for making fun of him.

Tsunade was invited to go out for drinks by Jiraiya and he believed Orochimaru had approached her and offered something. Without seeking further information, he vowed to murder her if she ever tried to turn on against the Hidden Leaf Village. A day before her wager with Naruto expires, he later extends an invitation to Tsunade for drinks. Taking advantage of the situation, Tsunade drugged Jiraiya till he passed out.

The next day, Jiraiya was unable to control his chakra due to the side effects of the medications. When he saw Kabuto, a subordinate of Orochimaru, spying on them, he asked Shizune to disclose Orochimaru's proposition. Then, in his haste to aid Tsunade, he engaged Orochimaru in combat.

Jiraya was unable to control his chakra, and Orochimaru's hands were sealed away, preventing him from utilizing ninjutsu. The three Sannin ended up in a Three Way Deadlock. Jiraiya was afraid that Tsunade might accept Orochimaru's offer but it turned out that she was attempting to assassinate Orochimaru.

Tsunade was unable to defend herself because of her fear of blood. In addition to aiding her, Naruto defeated Kabuto with his flawless Rasengan. As the battle came to an end, Orochimaru and Kabuto escaped. As the Fifth Hokage, Tsunade returned to the Hidden Leaf Village.

After returning to the village, Naruto visited Sasuke who was hospitalized. Sasuke was reminded of his hatred towards Itachi and his vengeance when he faced Itachi in Shukuba Town. He decides to flee from the Hidden Leaf and train under Orochimaru to gain the power he was desperate for. Tsunade assigned a team, known as Sasuke Recovery Team, consisting of Naruto, Kiba, Choji, Neji and Akamaru led by Shikamaru Nara to rescue Sasuke. Naruto faced Sasuke at the Valley of the End, but faced defeat and was unable to convince Sasuke to come back to the village.

Later, Naruto departed from the Hidden Leaf on a two-and-a-half-year journey alongside his Master Jiraiya to train. Jiraiya wanted Naruto to grow stronger so that he could fend off the Akatsuki. He took him on this journey as he knew Naruto would be safe by his side and he could also retrieve intel and track the movements of the Akatsuki along the way.

After his two- and-half-a-year journey ended, Naruto returned to the Leaf Village where he and Sakura went through the Bell Test against Kakashi. After they passed the test, Naruto became a member of the three-man squad, Team Kakashi. They were then dispatched to the Hidden Sand Village to rescue Gaara, now the Fifth Kazekage of the Hidden Sand Village, from the claws of Sasori and Deidara, members of the Akatsuki.

Although they were successful in rescuing Gaara, he had already died as his tailed beast was extracted from within him. Gaara was revived by Lady Chiyo, who used a forbidden technique at the cost of her own life.

After their return to the Hidden Leaf, they were dispatched on another mission, the TenchiBridge Reconnaissance Mission, based on intel Sakura received from Sasori. As Kakashi was hospitalized, he was replaced by Yamato as the new captain of Team 7 and Sai as a new addition to the team. Yamato was skilled in Wood Release and was capable of keeping the tailed beast within Naruto in check.

In that mission, they encountered Kabuto and Orochimaru. Enraged at the sight of Orochimaru, Naruto lost control and the Nine-Tails took over, covering him in the fox’s chakra cloak. After he battled Orochimaru, Naruto was tamed by Yamato who suppressed the Demon Fox’s chakra. After Yamato informed him that he attacked Sakura in that state, Naruto decided to never rely on the Demon Fox’s power.

By following Yamato’s Wood Clone, they infiltrated Orochimaru’s hideout, where they came across Sasuke for a long time. Naruto asked Sasuke to come back, but he refused and tried to kill him instead. The Nine-Tailed Fox offered to lend his chakra to fight against now overpowered Sasuke, but he refused. Sasuke used his Sharingan and suppressed the fox. Sasuke was about to use a fatal attack when he was stopped by Orochimaru and they retreated.

After Kakashi has finished recovering in the hospital, he gathered Naruto, Sakura, and Sai to talk about their unsuccessful attempt to retrieve Sasuke. Kakashi believed that for Naruto to best Sasuke, he needed to develop a new jutsu. Naruto learned to use his wind nature as the training progressed and realized that his nature was the wind.

Such training would often take months or years, but Kakashi suggested to Naruto that by working with hundreds of shadow clones, he may complete the same training in just a few weeks. Naruto learned how to use the wind nature swiftly with the help of Kakashi's lessons and the practice areas built by Yamato. The following phase, integrating that nature with the Rasengan, is more challenging for him.

After facing multiple failures, Naruto mentioned to Kakashi that it was like looking left and right at the same time, which was impossible. Kakashi showed how he could look left and right at the same time, by using Shadow Clones. This gave Naruto an idea and he started using Shadow clones to add his chakra nature and chakra form to his Rasengan. After practicing for a period of time, he finally succeeded and invented a new jutsu, the Rasenshuriken.

While Naruto was training, his friends, Shikamaru, Ino, and Choji, later joined by Kakashi, were fighting against Hidan and Kakuzu, also members of the Akatsuki, to take revenge for the death of their sensei, Asuma Sarutobi. Shikamaru led Hidan to the Nara Forest, where he defeated him and buried him alive.

After Naruto invented the Rasenshuriken, he headed toward the battlefield, and eventually defeated Kakuzu with his new jutsu. The Rasenshuriken attacks the opponent at a cellular level, destroying the target’s chakra network, and also causing some damage to the user’s chakra network. For this reason, Tsunade forbade Naruto to use this ninjutsu and classified it as a Forbidden Jutsu.

After the news of Sasuke killing Orochimaru reached the Hidden Leaf, they realized that Sasuke would now start looking for Itachi to avenge his clan. They deduced that if they tracked Itachi, there was a good chance they would encounter Sasuke.

In order to find either Sasuke or his presumed target, Itachi, Kakashi formed an eight-man squad by combining Teams 7 and 8. As they separated to conduct the search, Hinata, Yamato, and Bull are assigned to protect Naruto because he was a target of Akatsuki. As a result of Naruto "inspiring" Kabuto to defeat Orochimaru after absorbing his remnants, Kabuto approached their group and provides them with information on Akatsuki and its members. Then Kabuto fled.

Naruto made Shadow Clones to speed up the search. Naruto encountered Itachi while looking for Sasuke. Naruto's attacks were repelled by Itachi, who insisted he merely wanted to chat. He enquired about Sasuke's significance to Naruto and what he would do if Sasuke ever took action against the Hidden Leaf. As Sasuke's brother—and a superior brother to Itachi—Naruto responded that he would protect the village from any threats without harming Sasuke.

Itachi was pleased with the response and gave Naruto some help for the situation by storing a unique crow inside of Naruto's body that had Shisui Uchiha's eye implanted in it. Itachi departed, and Naruto kept looking until he located Sasuke. Their squad later came across Tobi who blocked their path and later informed them about Sasuke's victory in his battle against Sasuke and retreated. After they were unable to track Tobi or Sasuke’s whereabouts, they returned to the Hidden Leaf.

After they returned to the Hidden Leaf, Naruto learned about the demise of Jiraiya and left for Mount Myoboku to learn Sage Mode to fight Pain. While he mastered Sage Mode, he also found a way to use his Rasenshuriken. After he defeated the Six Paths of Pain and the Seventh Pain, Nagato Uzumaki, he saved the village and became the Hero of the Hidden Leaf.

Naruto discovered that the Five Kages were gathering in the Five Kage Summit to declare Sasuke an international criminal based on his crimes against the Hidden Cloud Village. Naruto headed to the Land of Iron to convince them otherwise, where he encountered Tobi and learned the truth about Itachi. Later, he came face to face with Sasuke who tried to kill them but had to retreat. Prior to this development, Tobi declared the Fourth Great Ninja War.

Naruto was dispatched to a secret location to keep him out of reach to keep him and Killer B out of reach of the Akatsuki. There, under the tutelage of Killer B, Naruto learned to control the Nine-Tails' power. In his battle against the Nine-Tails, Naruto met his mother, Kushina, who helped him in his battle. After he defeated the beast, he acquired new power, the Nine-Tailed Chakra Mode.

Despite the attempts to stop them by the shinobi by their side, Naruto and Killer B entered the battlefield and faced the reanimated Itachi and Nagato. Itachi freed himself from Kabuto’s control with the help of the crow he stored in Naruto during their last meeting and sealed Nagato. He then headed out to confront Kabuto and release the jutsu. Naruto dispatched his Shadow Clones to fight on different battlefields.

Naruto and Killer B later fought against the reanimated remaining Jinchuriki and Tobi. He was struggling against the tailed beasts and ran out of chakra when the Nine-Tails offered him chakra. Naruto asked him his name, Kurama, declared him a partner, and entered into Kurama Chakra Mode. He then managed to free the tailed beasts from Tobi’s control and freed them. Unfortunately, they were once again captured by the Gedo Statue after they gave Naruto a portion of their chakra.

Naruto later fought against Madara Uchiha and Tobi, who was revealed to be Obito Uchiha, alongside the rest of the Allied Shinobi Forces. Obito revived the Ten-Tails who became the reason for the demise of Neji Hyuga. To defeat his enemies, Obito became the Jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails and gained Six Paths powers. Naruto alongside his companions defeated Obito by extracting the Tailed-Beasts within him and also managed to reason with Obito to change sides.

As Obito was going to revive all the lives lost in the war with Rinne-Rebirth Jutsu, he was forced by Black Zetsu to revive Madara instead. Madara then captured all the tailed beasts, including Naruto’s, and became the Second Sage of Six Paths. Naruto and Sasuke were on the verge of death when they were saved by Obito and Kabuto respectively and gained Six Paths chakra from Hagoromo Otsutsuki, the Sage of Six Paths. While they kept Madara in the bay, Madara managed to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Naruto along with the rest of Team 7 was saved from the light by Sasuke’s Perfect Susanoo.

When Madara started preparing to eliminate them, he was stabbed by Black Zetsu from behind and used as a vessel for the revival of Kaguya Otsutsuki, the Mother of all Chakra. In the end, they managed to seal Kaguya by using the Six Paths: Chibaku Tensei they received from Hagoromo.

After they had sealed Kaguya and the war finally came to an end, Sasuke threatened to kill all the current Kage and destroy the shinobi world and took all the Tailed-Beasts under his control. He then challenged Naruto for a final battle. In his final battle against Naruto, Sasuke revealed his reasoning for such drastic actions. At the end of their battle, Sasuke finally came to terms with Naruto and placed his hopes in him. Sasuke was an international criminal but was released from his crimes for his contribution to the war under Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage’s recommendation. In the end, Naruto had finally saved his friend and brought him back home.

In the new era, Naruto married Hinata Hyuga and became the proud father of Boruto and Himawari Uzumaki. He also became the Seventh Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village, also known as the Orange Hokage.

Naruto has been quite eccentric, bold, determined, and a hard worker since his childhood. He never gave up no matter the odds. Above all, Naruto is a kind soul and always thought about the well-being of others.

Karin Uzumaki, as well as Konan, described him as lightness personified. Naruto has a charming and caring personality, which motivates others to follow him. He is a man of compassion and empathy, even though he might be angry toward his enemies, he is always open to listening to their side of the story and empathizing with them.

Despite all the hatred, he faced in his childhood, Naruto always loved the Hidden Leaf and its citizens. Even as the Hokage, Naruto sees the village as a big family and loves them the same. Naruto never hesitated to risk his life to save others. Since he was young, Naruto saw Sasuke his brother despite their differences. No matter how many times Sasuke tried to kill him, he always wanted to save him and never gave up on him.

Naruto is always energetic and quite unpredictable, to such an extent that he gained the nickname, Number One Hyperactive Knucklehead Ninja.

Naruto inherited blond hair and blue eyes from his father, Minato. Although he was quite short in his childhood, he eventually became taller than most of his classmates. Naruto fashioned an orange outfit throughout the course of his journey, because of which he even gained the nickname, the Orange Hokage.

Naruto typically wore an orange jacket and pants of the same color, with protective mashed armor beneath it. He wore his Hidden Leaf Headband with pride throughout his life as a shinobi till he became the Hokage.

When he became the Hokage, in addition to his orange jacket and black pants, he also fashioned his Seventh Hokage Cloak and a Hokage headwear from time to time.

As an Uzumaki, Naruto possessed vast amounts of chakra reserves, which were only enhanced once he teamed up with Kurama. Although Naruto started his journey to be the strongest ninja with a tough start. As an aspiring ninja, Naruto was unable to master jutsu, he was not even able to learn clone jutsu. As he grew as a shinobi, he mastered many strong jutsu and ultimately became the strongest shinobi in history. Shadow Clone Jutsu and the Rasengan are Naruto’s specialty.

Naruto has an affinity for Wind Release but possesses all other chakra natures as well, which are:

Naruto is also a master of Toad Sage Jutsu and Lord Fukasaku stated that he possessed more talent and mastery over Sage Jutsu than Jiraiya himself. Naruto is the only individual who was able to befriend Kurama and mastered his prowess. He was capable of accessing Kurama Chakra Mode and linking with Kurama flawlessly.

In the war, Naruto also acquired Six Paths Senjutsu chakra from the Sage of Six Paths himself. Without any prior training, Naruto grasped this newly acquired prowess almost instantly and was able to save Might Guy from certain death and even gave Kakashi a new eye.

In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Naruto accessed Baryon Mode, power in a league of its own. Naruto was capable of overpowering Isshiki Otsutsuki with ease, but it came with the cost of Kurama’s life.

Naruto never possessed any talent for genjutsu but despite popular belief, Naruto is exceptional in Taijutsu. He was able to go toe to toe and even overpowered Momoshiki Otsutsuki with his Taijutsu alone.

Along the way, Naruto also invented jutsus of his own, a feat that a handful of shinobi ever acquired. He invented Sexy Jutsu, Wind Style: Rasengan, and Rasenshuriken and he also came up with numerous variants of these base techniques.

Although Naruto has always been goofy and a little childish and may seem like he doesn’t think twice, he in fact possesses formidable intellect when it comes to battle. Naruto has proved his worth in battle from time to time. While many of his comrades failed, Naruto has always been able to catch his opponents by surprise with his unpredictability and stubbornness.

He even gained the nickname, Number One Hyperactive Knucklehead Ninja because of these abilities. Naruto has always possessed an unwavering will. He never gives up no matter what and he often risked his life on the line to achieve his goals.
