Uchiha Clan in Naruto

The Uchiha Clan members are descendants of Indra Otsutsuki, the older son of Hagoromo Otsutsuki. He waged war with his brother, Asura Otsutsuki, for being their father’s successor. After years and years of war, at some point in time, the ones born with the ability to wield the Sharingan came to be known as the Uchiha, while Asura’s descendants came to be known as the Senju.

The Uchiha and Senju were at constant war for reasons they didn’t know. Everyone had forgotten the story of Indra and Asura, and the war was just a constant cycle of death. Seeing this, two people from either clan, called Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju, decided to form a truce and form a village where both could live in peace. This is how the Hidden Leaf Village was formed and how the Uchiha Clan settled in.

For the new Hidden Leaf Village, the leader was elected as Hashirama Senju. Although things went smoothly at first, Madara was unsatisfied with this. He felt that his people didn’t get enough recognition under a Senju’s rule and wanted them to revolt against them. But the Uchiha refused and wanted peace instead. Madara alone challenged Hashirama and was defeated, and was thought to have died.

However, years later, an Uchiha attacked the Hidden Leaf Village and caused a lot of deaths. Because of this, the village started to distrust them and started to leave them out of trade dealings. Frustrated by this unfair treatment, the Uchiha decided to revolt against the village. However, they had a spy among them called Itachi Uchiha who was placed there by Danzo Shimura. He would report the plans of a revolt to Danzo, who would start negotiations for peace but were quickly shut down.

Realizing that there would be war no matter what, Danzo gave Itachi an ultimatum; either the entire Uchiha clan, including his brother dies in war, or he kills everyone in the clan, but is allowed to spare his brother. Danzo also convinces him that he was doing this for the village and for its future. Itachi takes Danzo’s offer and kills every Uchiha member except his brother and Tobi Uchiha, the unknown man who attacked the village all those years ago.

After Sasuke Uchiha grows up, he would kill Itachi Uchiha and obtain the Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. During the war, Tobi would be revealed to be Obito Uchiha, an Uchiha member who was thought dead. He would sacrifice his life to save Naruto, Sasuke, and Kakashi Hatake.

After this event, he remains the final Uchiha clan member, until Sarada Uchiha is born. A few years later, he discovers the existence of Shin Uchiha, an experiment by Orochimaru. He was a pureblood Sharingan user who created clones of himself who all naturally possessed the Sharingan. However, due to his mistreatment of the clones, they would turn against him and defeat him, and then take refuge in the Hidden Leaf Village.

All clans have leaders who think about the Clan’s future and work towards it. The Uchiha clan is no exception. These are the few known leaders of the Uchiha Clan:

Madara Uchiha

The leader of the Uchiha while the Hidden Leaf was formed. However, after a while he realizes that his ways are different from that of Hashirama. After trying to organize against the Leaf and failing, Madara challenges Hashirama to a battle and is defeated.

Fugaku Uchiha

The last leader of the Uchiha before the Uchiha massacre. He dies at the hands of his son, Itachi Uchiha, after putting his blade down and refusing to fight his own son.

Sasuke Uchiha

After the Uchiha were all wiped out, he officially became the last member of the clan, making him the leader of the same. He is also a Shadow Hokage to the Leaf, investigating external threats.

There are also a few members of the clan who, despite not being a leader, contributed to the village or the clan despite not being in a position of power. Here are some:

Itachi Uchiha

He was supposed to become the next leader of the clan but was disinherited after Fugaku found out about his plans. According to the Hokage, even at such a young age, Itachi thought like a Hokage. He was a very wise and powerful person.

Sarada Uchiha

Sasuke Uchiha’s only daughter. She continued the Uchiha bloodline after almost being wiped out. As an incredibly strong Kunoichi, she plans to be a Hokage sometime in the future.

Shisui Uchiha

Shisui thought for the greater good of the village but always wanted to do it in the most peaceful way possible. He saw through Danzo’s evil and was killed by him after Danzo tried to take his eyes.

The Uchiha possessed many abilities and Jutsu that belonged to them. Apart from the Kekkei Genkai of the Sharingan, they also possessed many signature Jutsu. Here are some of them:

A. The Uchiha are not immune to Genjutsu by default. However, after unlocking the Sharingan, they gain a certain resistance toward it, increasing with the upgrades of the Sharingan.

Q. Who is still alive from the Uchiha clan?

A. In the Boruto Universe, the only Uchiha left are Sasuke Uchiha and Sarada Uchiha. Shin Uchiha, an experiment by Orochimaru, also created clones of himself, creating a new pureblood Uchiha Clan as well.
