In the past, the owner of the Ankorodo shop in Konohagakure, who was once a kunoichi, organized an eating contest. The prize for the winner was unlimited free sweet sake. Choji Akimichi, known for his love of food, won the contest and enjoyed unlimited sake. However, this caused the shop owner to face financial difficulties as she nearly went bankrupt trying to provide free sake to Choji. This experience made her realize the risk involved in offering unlimited promotions. As a result, she decided never to take that kind of risk again to protect the welfare of her restaurant.
In the Naruto Shinden: Parent and Child Day novel, the Ankorodo Shop Owner plans with other food store owners to prevent Choji Akimichi from winning a big eating competition. They want to avoid giving him the prize, as it could lead to financial troubles for the shop owner, so she takes the help of Kui Dotonbori and Daore Dotonbori, who also ate a lot.
During the competition, there is a moment when the lights go out, and the old woman gets worried. Ayame, who works at the shop, helps by turning on the lights and reminding the shop owner that their shop is responsible for providing the prize.
Later, the shop owner provided food to the contestants and secretly worked with Kui and Daore Dotonbori because she feared going bankrupt. In the final round, Dotonbori's father and son were given shallow bowls to eat from, while Choji and Chocho Akimichi received deep bowls, making them eat slower. During this time, Boruto Uzumaki, who was hungry, looked for food and accidentally discovered the trick that was being played.
When the shop owner saw Choji getting stronger and eating more with the support of his daughter, she became angry. She used a special technique to fill the entire competition area with sticky mochi, a type of rice cake. Rock Lee and Metal Lee tried to destroy the mochi using their physical fighting skills, but they failed. However, Choji grew in size and ate all the mochi, while Boruto exposed the shop owner's deception.
As a result, the Akimichi family won the competition. The shop owner was then forced to give Choji a certificate for endless sweet bean jam as a punishment. Sai, another character, commented that this punishment was worse than being in prison.
The Ankorodo Shop Owner is cunning and is willing to go to great lengths to protect her restaurant's welfare, even if it means participating in unfair actions. However, when her deception is exposed and she faces the consequences, she shows remorse and repents for her actions.
The Ankorodo Shop Owner wears a brown striped robe with a light-colored apron featuring a leaf and three small circles on the upper left side. She wears simple sandals and ties her hair in a bun, covering it with a blanket. She is a short, old woman with gray hair and eyes that become more noticeable when she gets excited. She only has three teeth in her mouth and has many birthmarks on her wrinkled face.
The Ankorodo Shop Owner can use Earth Release to create large dumplings from mochi. These dumplings constantly grow in size, and even skilled shinobi like Rock Lee couldn't get rid of them. Ankorodo Secret Ninjutsu: Mochi Style: Infinite Dumplings is the name of the technique.
