Aoba Yamashiro in Naruto

Aoba Yamashiro is a jonin from Konohagakure. Aoba was present at the Academy entry ceremony when Obito Uchiha showed up late in his childhood. He took part in the Chunin Exams and Kakashi Hatake's subsequent covert celebration of becoming promoted to jonin. Aoba is renowned for his aptitude at penetrating people's thoughts in order to get information. He tried to use this power to learn more about Akatsuki.

Aoba was chosen to be one of the shinobi dispatched to a remote island in the Land of Lightning as Naruto's bodyguard during the Fourth Shinobi World War. He looked after a seasick Might Guy throughout the boat voyage there.

Chunin Exams: Part 1

Aoba made his debut during a gathering of jonin-level shinobi held by the Third Hokage and the Konoha Council to address the killing of Hayate Gekko and probable participation of Orochimaru. The Third assured them that he had the fullest confidence in all of them and that if the time ever came, he knew that they would gather their courage and fight beside him. However, some of them wanted the exams to be canceled because they were fearful of what was ahead.

Konoha Crush

Aoba was one of the shinobi that was able to undo the genjutsu that had been used to put the spectators in the stadium to sleep at the start of the Konoha Crush. He recognised the individual who had performed the genjutsu as Kabuto Yakushi, who was posing as a Konoha Anbu. He then joined his friends in combat against the hostile soldiers. In the anime, he attacked numerous opposing shinobi at once with the Fire Release: Fire Dragon Bullet. He proved to be of great assistance to Kurenai, Guy and Kakashi. Subsequently, he attended Third's burial and wept for his loss.

Search for Tsunade

Aoba entered Kakashi's chamber after learning Itachi Uchiha had gone back to Konoha in quest of Naruto Uzumaki. By accident, he alerted Sasuke Uchiha of the situation, prompting Sasuke to run out of the room in search of his brother. The jonin were frustrated since they had apparently not wanted Sasuke to know about this. Aoba and Genma were tasked by Koharu Utatane to inform the community about Tsunade's inauguration as the Fifth after she had returned to the hamlet and taken on the role of Hokage.

Akautski Suppression Mission

Aoba is entrusted to the Twenty Platoons, a unique battalion designed to find and apprehend Akatsuki members. In the anime, they searched for a known Akatsuki hideaway and came across a member of the group. After taking the individual into custody, they waited at the hiding place in the anticipation that someone would appear. They were unsuccessful in their stake-out, but they subsequently heard from Asuma's squad and hurried to provide support after learning that they had made contact with an Akatsuki team.

As soon as he arrived, Aoba used his Scattering Thousand Crows Technique to block Hidan and Kakuzu's eyesight, giving Raido the chance to assault them with his Kokut and enabling them to rescue Asuma's squad. The Akatsuki duo then made a hasty departure after a brief battle with Aoba. He and Raido observed as Asuma gave his pupils his parting remarks and afterwards went to his burial.

Fourth Shinobi World War Countdown

Aoba was chosen to be one of the shinobi dispatched to a remote island in the Land of Lightning as Naruto's bodyguard during the Fourth Shinobi World War. He looked after a seasick Might Guy throughout the boat voyage there. Once on the island, Motoi told Aoba and the others that Naruto had gone there to learn how to manage the Nine-Tails, so they followed him to the Falls of Truth. Both of them were surprised when a blowfish-like monster materialized from behind the falls to appear as Guy's opponent. When they realized that this was indeed Kisame Hoshigaki, they attempted to stop him using Aoba's Secret Technique: Stone Needles, but this simply gave Kisame the chance to easily absorb Aoba's chakra, causing Aoba to pass out. After Aoba had recovered, the group pursued Kisame, but they discovered that Guy had already taken Kisame and had knocked him out.

Aoba explored Kisame's consciousness as Yamato held him in an effort to learn more about Akatsuki. Aoba was horrified when Kisame recovered consciousness by biting his tongue. This prevented him from learning any vital knowledge. Kisame killed himself by commanding sharks to consume his body before they could react. They mistakenly set off a booby-trap when they decided to see how much Kisame knew by opening the scroll he had left behind. As a result, the shinobi are imprisoned and the scroll is taken by a shark.

Aoba began to worry that Akatsuki would be following them now that they presumably knew the location of the island, and he pondered what course of action they ought to follow. Motoi warned them that it was doubtful they would locate the island because the one they were on was continually shifting, unlike other islands.

After being startled and comforted, Aoba and Yamato switch their focus to Naruto and attempt to occupy him by assigning him a "S-rank mission" to conduct a census of the island's natural animal species. Aoba persuaded Naruto that the explosions that were occurring outside were actually earthquakes while Aoba and the others explored outside, which is how Akatsuki ultimately discovered the island and attacked. They discovered Kurotsuchi holding Kabuto Yakushi captive there. Aoba rushed swiftly to read Kabuto's thoughts like he had done with Kisame, but when he did so by approaching Kabuto on a wooden bridge Yamato had built, Kabuto retreated, throwing Aoba into the quicklime lava from Kurotsuchi.

Aoba tried to reassure the Third Tsuchikage that it wouldn't be simple to get information out of Yamato after the Tsuchikage arrived on the scene and assisted in freeing Aoba. However, the Tsuchikage responded that Tobi possessed a very powerful djutsu and as a result, it wasn't a matter of whether or not Yamato wanted to divulge the alliance's intelligence.

Blank Period Sasuke Shinden: Book of Sunrise

Aoba explores one of the mind-controlled ninja of Kiri and Kumo after they are prevented from destroying Konoha in an effort to determine who is in charge of them. He sets up a trap inside the head of the controlled ninja by doing so. He is saved by Ino Yamanaka using her Mind Body Switch Technique, but both must be admitted to the hospital as a result of the incident.

Aoba Yamashiro is a calm and collected individual who is always willing to help his allies. Aoba is also very knowledgeable and has a wide range of skills. Most of the time, Aoba has a cheerful and relaxed demeanor and frequently makes jokes with those around him. He might be prone to panicking at times, but when the time comes, he is cool, controlled, and resolute. In part 2 of the show, he is shown to have a recorded age of 34.

Aoba Yamashiro has dark, spiky hair and is always seen wearing red-framed glasses. He wears a standard Konohagakure flak jacket over a black shirt and pants. Aoba also carries a black katana as his weapon of choice.

Aoba Yamashiro is a skilled ninja who has demonstrated knowledge and aptitude in a wide cross-area of techniques. He is proficient in the use of shuriken and kunai, and is also skilled in taijutsu. Aoba is also a capable sensory ninja, able to detect the presence of others from a distance. His nature type is Fire Release, but this is only present in the anime.

Aoba’s hidden technique was shown during his battle with Kisame Hoshigaki, where Stone Needles acted as a paralyzing agent. However, it didn't work on Kisame because he had the ability to absorb Chakra. The Scattering Thousand Crows Technique, which allows Aoba to simultaneously call hundreds of crows and employ them in a variety of ways, is one of his favorite jutsus.
