Araumi had a frightening power over water while he was the Funato clan's leader. He soon gained control of all other pirate organizations, routinely targeting different islands and trade routes while also conducting kidnappings all around the Land of Water. He eventually married Minamo, with whom he had three children. He put his offspring through a rite of passage to decide if they would inherit Funato authority. A hostile strike caused Minamo to be frozen to death during a fight with Kirigakure. Her final request was for him to raise their youngest kid, Ikada, well because she saw him as the clan's future. Over the years, Araumi would visit her frozen body, leaving her a pearl each time.
Tenma, a young lad who admired Araumi's might and desired to join him, was encountered during one of his attacks on an island. He decided to adopt the youngster as his son and began routinely training him after being moved by the boy's attitude. However, Araumi ultimately gave more attention to the growth of his own children, which made Tenma envious.
When his youngest kid, Ikada, reached adulthood, his exam was particularly challenging since it happened during a violent storm. Ikada was saved from drowning when Araumi threw him into the water, where his Funato powers appeared and caused a huge wave. This made Araumi pleased. He eventually gave Isari his Marlin Harpoon.
The Sixth Mizukage led a successful effort to capture Araumi in recent years. He would spend the following five years behind bars, away from any water sources and the open ocean.
The community was on high alert as Kagura toured Boruto Uzumaki about the jail since an airship attack had forced airships to collapse. In reality, Araumi's tribe was using this as a distraction to save him. Isari, his son, and his group broke into the prison and released him. Araumi revived himself by absorbing moisture from one of the guards there. He broke out of the jail to reunite with his tribe, who took advantage of the mayhem to conquer other islands in the Land of Water. Araumi happily ate a feast with his kids when he got back to his base. Tenma grudgingly disclosed that his fortress ship was sunk by a group of Kiri and Konoha-nin, along with the ship's Chakra Cannon, as Tenma came to join battle. Araumi asserted that everything was OK since he was sure he would win this battle at this point.
Isari later informed Araumi that the Mizukage had entered the front lines and were eager for battle. He was also told that Seiren had gone ahead to handle things. Later, Araumi was incensed to find that Tenma had been murdered by the Mizukage, Seiren had been killed in combat, and the distraction plan had failed as a result of Tenma.
He chose to remove his son from leadership, appointing Seiren to take over when she recovered, and keeping Isari at the base, placing all the blame on Isari because it was his idea. All soldiers were ordered by Araumi to get ready for a frontal assault on Kirigakure, and he also sent word to cancel Funamushi's mission.
Later, when personnel was depleted and repairs from the last conflict were slow going, Araumi became agitated and angry, blaming Isari for their losses. Araumi was sure that Ikada was their last hope for success after learning of Funamushi's passing and Seiren's impending doom. Following Seiren's eventual demise, Araumi proudly observed as Ikada set aside his personal objectives in order to exact revenge on his sister, unlocking his real Funato might.
Isari's covert plot to speak with the Mizukage for a peaceful ending for both parties was revealed by Jibiki, and although Araumi seemingly allowed him to do as he pleased, in reality, he covertly ordered his soldiers to murder Isari since he thought his son couldn't comprehend why the war was essential. Araumi organized his whole clan and all of his supporters to invade Kirigakure once his youngest son was prepared. He commandeered the airways to declare his all-out assault and promised to murder everyone who stood in his way. He proved this when his soldiers executed his command to kill Isari. Ikada was proud of himself after guiding their fleet over the Sea of Death, and he wished Tenma and Seiren could see him. He and Ikada rallied as the Shinonome 1 came into view.
Araumi was taken aback by Team 7's appearance and dismayed when they requested that the dispute be put to an end since they did not accept the Mizukage's offer. He left the ship and went to the mobile fortress, which was preparing to fire at the Shinonome 1 with its chakra cannon. He smugly observed Boruto promise to give his life as a sacrifice to put an end to the conflict. In the end, Boruto followed through on his promise and threw himself into the surging waves to drown, asking his comrades one final time not to seek retribution. Ikada was forced to save Boruto by Team 7's sincere efforts, and he and his men vow to stop detesting Kirigakure. In spite of this, Araumi was determined to win the war.
He was about to fire the Chakra Cannon when Kawaki stopped him and knocked him out. As a result of the conflict, Araumi is detained once more.
