Sasuke summoned Garuda during his battle with Danzo in order to keep from falling over the Samurai Bridge after being hurt by Danzo's Wind Release: Vacuum Sphere. Later, as the Wind Release: Vacuum Wave rushed towards them, Sasuke dismounted from him to avoid it. In the manga, it was Sasuke who severed the right arm of Danzo with his Sword of Kusanagi.
But in the anime, Garuda further aids Sasuke in his battle by using one of his claws to clutch and direct one of Danzo's wind-enhanced shuriken back at him, cutting off Danzo's right arm and causing him to release his grip on Sasuke, allowing Sasuke to slash Danzo in the chest. Garuda was seen taking off from the battlefield after Sasuke killed Danzo.
Sasuke summons Garuda when fighting Madara Uchiha for the second time in the War. Later on in the war, after Kaguya relocated Team 7 above a river of lava, Garuda was once more called upon to save Sasuke and Naruto from falling into lava.
Kaguya then delivered a precise assault, piercing Garuda's tenketsu in its wings, rendering him unable to fly. Garuda and the rest of the crew are both saved by Naruto using his chakra arms, and Garuda then returns to his own dimension.
Although there is not much information shared about Garuda’s personality, it is clear that he is very loyal to his summoner, Sasuke Uchiha.
He looks like an ordinary hawk, but he is considerably bigger. Despite having darker patches over his back, wings, and tail, he was shown as being a brownish shade. Along with having red markings along the sides of his beak, Garuda also has dark patterns around his eyes.
Garuda's abilities, strengths, and fighting styles are not well-documented in the Naruto series. However, it can be assumed that Garuda has the abilities of a hawk, such as keen eyesight and the ability to fly.
Apart from the Naruto manga and its anime adaptation, Garuda appears in the game, Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations and is also a part of the OVA (Original Video Animation), Naruto Shippūden: UNSG anime cutscenes.
Garuda is a large mystical bird or bird-like creature present in Hindu and Buddhist religions, known as the King of the Birds and considered the first bird in mythology.
In the anime, Garuda's design differed from the manga, with missing markings on the side of its beak.
In the same dimension as humans, like other summoning animals, but strangely not affected by the Infinite Tsukuyomi genjutsu. Uncertain whether Garuda bypassed the genjutsu by chance, if summoned animals were exempt, or if Sasuke broke the genjutsu during the summoning process.
