Iori hired Hidari and Ashimaru on the belief that they were trustworthy shinobi after the Pale Blue Valley offered to purchase the deed to the Green Banks' bridge. Unhappy with this deal, Iori took the poison from them and poisoned Tofu, the head of the Green Banks village, killing him.
Iori made his debut in the Genin Mission Arc in the New Era. In the arc, Kiri, Tofu’s daughter. was appointed to be the new head of Green Banks after her father’s death. Iori expected that Kiri would handle the situation on her own, which he could use to turn things in his favor.
However, to his surprise, Kiri hired shinobi from Konohagakure, also known as the Village Hidden in the Leaves, for assistance. It meant that the new Team 7 of Konoha, consisting of Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki, led by Konohamaru Sarutobi, was dispatched.
Displeased with this development, Iori took aid from his own hired shinobi team to create a commotion. He then used the uproar as an opportunity and kidnapped Kiri. He then met with Hidari and Ashimaru and was gloating about how smoothly everything worked out. To his shock, Hidari and Ashimaru, his supposed accomplices, betrayed and stabbed him to death.
Iori was a dishonest, greedy, and self-centered individual who was always looking for the easiest way to make money. He was not above killing in cold blood to get what he wanted. He had no qualms about killing the village leader and capturing his daughter Kiri since he saw the Green Banks' bridge as his chance for quick fortune.
He was also overconfident in his abilities and reckless, expecting everything to go well while using criminals to help him. This made him incredibly naive, which ultimately cost him his life.
Iori was a middle-aged man with blue eyes, short brown hair, and a beard. He wore a beige, full-sleeved shirt, a green vest with light green trimmings on top of it, paired with a dark-green pair of paints and some sandals.
Iori was a villager and did not possess any extraordinary abilities.
