Jingo left his village because he didn't feel talented as a shinobi and became a missing-nin. His village forgave him later, but he was jobless and broke. While wandering, he arrived in Konohagakure and was really hungry. The people at Ramen Ichiraku, Teuchi, and Ayame felt sorry for him and gave him food. This made him happy, and he decided to be a ramen chef in Konoha.
Jingo got a cooking knife from a store called Ninja Tools Roll Roll Roll. But then Inojin Yamanaka and Chocho Akimichi came to him as they thought he did something wrong. They then looked into his things and saw they were all kitchen stuff.
Kohan Yamanaka came and said sorry as he explained that the information they had was old, and Jingo was forgiven by his village. Jingo asked them to his restaurant and said he wanted to impress a ramen critic to help his business. The young ninja decided to help because they made a mistake. They got ingredients and tasted his food, but something was missing.
When Jingo left, a thief ran into him and mixed his stolen stuff with a spice container. At night, Jingo went back to his restaurant for his wallet, but the thieves took him. Later, Chocho and Inojin, with help from Shikadai and another ninja, saved him from the thieves' hideout. They found out Chocho had the stolen stuff, thinking it was seasoning.
Shikadai told Jingo about good teamwork, and Jingo decided to put crushed chips in his ramen. A good review for his new recipe brought lots of customers to his restaurant.
Jingo is anxious and self-doubting. He's not very confident in his abilities as a shinobi and finds it hard to figure out what he's good at. However, he's really enthusiastic about his dream of becoming a chef.
Jingo has short gray hair, and his cheekbones and the area under his eyes are easy to see. He is a guy with tan skin and has an average height but before, when he was from Kumo, he wore regular Kumo clothes. But now, as a chef, he usually wears a white chef's outfit with an apron that has his restaurant's logo on it.
