Katazu in Naruto

At some point in time, Shikazo borrowed some money from Kageki. When Kageki needed the money for his family, he asked Shikazo to return the money he had borrowed. To Kageki’s surprise, Shikazo refused to pay him back, which resulted in a fight between the two. Unfortunately, during this chaos, Shikazo fell, hit his head hard on a pickling stone, and met his demise. Katazu, Kageki’s twin brother, took the blame for Shikazo’s death to save his brother. Katazu then purposely attracted the attention of the people pursuing Kageki to ensure Kageki and his family’s safety.

Katazu made his debut in the anime with the Past Arc: The Locus of Konoha. In the storyline, it was revealed that ever since Shikazo’s death, Tsukado, a master swordsman, was asked by his clan to avenge Shikazo’s death and kill Kageki. However, Katazu was a more skilled swordsman than Tsukado. Tsukado had fought and lost to him 34 times so far. Following this, Kanabun, the leader of the infamous Kanabun Gang, decided to make a profit out of Katazu and Tsukado’s enmity.

The next day, Kanabun brought Tsukado and Katazu face to face to profit from their fight. Naruto Uzumaki, a shinobi of Konohagakure, helped Tsukado, and with his help, Tsukado was able to gain the upper hand on Katazu. However, before Tsukado could finish Katazu off, Naruto interfered and stopped the fight as he realized that Katazu didn’t kill Shikazo. Katazu confessed, and after learning the truth, Tsukado decided to spare his life and leave him alone. However, it did not set right with Kanabun, who then tried to force the two swordsmen to fight. To his misfortune, the two swordsmen and Team 7 of Konoha, consisting of Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno, led by Kakashi Hatake, chased Kanabun and his gang out of the town.

Katazu is a calm, cool-headed swordsman. He doesn’t lose his composure, even in the heat of the battle. He stated that he blames himself for some sins. When he found his twin brother’s life was in danger, he thought that taking the blame and saving his brother’s life might help him atone for his sins.

Katazu loved and trusted his brother entirely. Katazu believed that his brother was innocent by his word. Katazu’s love for his brother and his innocence even reflected in his eyes, seeing that Tsukado was unable to fight him.

Katazu is a man with a muscular physique, long, unkempt brown hair that he wears in a ponytail at the back, and dark eyes. He also has parts of his bangs drooping over the crimson headband wrapped around his forehead. Katazu was dressed in a brown robe fastened with a sash that held his sword's sheath, blue pants, and sandals. His ankles, wrists, and stomach were wrapped in white bandages, and his hands were protected by special gloves.

Katazu is a master of the sword. He is strong enough to destroy the weapons of multiple foes at once. The fact that he uses a blunt sword further demonstrates his expertise; nonetheless, even with such a weapon, he was able to deflect the strikes of the larger, chakra-filled sword of Tsukado and even knock it out of his opponent's hands.
