Kiiro was born into a family where only the firstborn, Kodaka, learned how to control bees. Kiiro felt frustrated because he believed he could use the bees better and thought it was a waste of his talents to protect Kodaka. When their parents died, Kiiro convinced Kodaka to take dangerous missions to earn more money. Kiiro wanted fame and glory, while Kodaka just wanted to support their younger brothers.
They were assigned to capture a dangerous person named Kisame Hoshigaki. Kiiro attacked Kisame but got knocked out by Itachi Uchiha. When he woke up, he realized Kodaka had run away. Kiiro was angry and felt betrayed. Kodaka wanted to give up and return to their brothers, but Kiiro was determined to kill Kisame for fame.
Kisame and Itachi found them again, and Kiiro tried to help Kodaka sting Kisame a second time. But Kiiro was weak and couldn't do much. Kodaka sacrificed himself to save Kiiro from Itachi's attack. With his last bit of strength, Kodaka made it look like he killed Kiiro and then himself to scare away their enemies.
Kiiro couldn't move or speak but heard Kodaka's final words. He felt guilty for Kodaka's death and wondered why Itachi spared him. Kiiro returned to their younger brothers and told them about Kodaka's death, but they blamed Akatsuki instead. Kiiro used Kodaka's bees to travel and made a living selling honey. He settled in a place with white flowers and eventually got married and had a son.
Kiiro finds Omitsu and Komitsu playing in the flower field and scolds them since the flowers are important for their livelihood. They apologize and introduce Kiiro to Sasuke Uchiha, mistaking him for Itachi at first. Omitsu explains that Sasuke saved Komitsu from falling off a cliff. Kiiro thanks Sasuke and sends Ōmitsu and Komitsu home to get some medicinal honey as a gift for Sasuke.
While they are away, Sasuke asks Kiiro about his connection to Itachi. Kiiro briefly tells Sasuke about meeting Itachi and Kisame in the past. Kiiro believes that Itachi spared him because Itachi also had a younger brother, just like Kiiro had Kodaka.
Omitsu and Komitsu return with the medicinal honey and also bring Kiiro's baby son, thinking he might be lonely. Kiiro holds his son and gives the honey to Sasuke. As Sasuke leaves, Kiiro calls out to him and asks if his brother is kind like Kodaka. Sasuke responds with a simple "Yeah!"
Kiiro is a person who can be impatient, ambitious, and jealous. He wants to be recognized for his abilities and seeks fame and glory. He resents his responsibility of protecting his older brother, Kodaka, and believes he could use his talents better. However, he also feels guilty when things go wrong and cares deeply for his family, especially his younger brothers.
Kiiro can control bees. He can communicate with them and use them for various tasks. With his bee control, he can send them to attack enemies or gather honey. He is also skilled in using Water Release techniques, such as powerful water attacks like Water Dragon Bullet Technique. Kiiro's abilities with bees and water make him a formidable fighter, giving him an advantage in battles.
