He was originally owned by the previous King of Redaku, who used him to communicate with the Sixth Hokage, Kakashi Hatake. After the King’s death, Leh passed to Nanara, who brought him to Nagare Village.
After the King's death, Nanara takes Leh to Nagare Village. Later, when Redaku plans to invade the Land of Fire, Nanara wants to meet the Sixth Hokage to prevent the invasion. Kakashi Hatake suggests using Leh to deliver a letter, which would be faster and easier. Nanara is unsure if Leh can handle the long journey, but Kakashi proves that Leh can fly long distances.
Nanara writes a letter and gives it to Leh, instructing him to deliver it to the Hokage. However, Leh keeps trying to give the letter to Kakashi, confusing Nanara, who doesn't know Kakashi is the Sixth Hokage. Kakashi advises Leh to deliver the letter to "the Hokage" without specifying his identity.
After a few days, Leh returns with a letter from the Seventh Hokage, who agrees to terms that will prevent the invasion. This leads to a civil war in Redaku, during which Nanara gets captured. Leh comes to the rescue, freeing Nanara from captivity. Leh then helps guide Nanara to the Prime Minister's location, allowing Nanara and Kakashi to stop the war.
A few months later, when Nanara becomes the King, Leh delivers a package from the Seventh Hokage. Inside is a book called Icha Icha Paradise, which Kakashi promised to give Nanara.
Leh can fly or glide through the air, allowing him to deliver letters over long distances quickly.
