Mind Transfer Jutsu is a type of jutsu where the user occupies the target’s body. However, to use this Jutsu, one must also have willpower stronger than the opponent.
This Jutsu converts the user’s consciousness into spiritual energy and then sends it towards a target. This energy travels slowly towards the target and when it hits, the user takes control of the opponent. However, if it misses, it will take a while for the consciousness to find its way back to the body.
Because of this, it is advised to use this Jutsu against stationary targets. Missing this would mean that you would be knocked out, and would be a burden for a large section of the fight.

The Mind Transfer Jutsu is a Hiden Jutsu, which means that it is a Jutsu that is exclusive to a clan that has been passed down orally through tradition. It is kept secret and is not allowed to be taught to people outside the clan.
Mind Transfer Jutsu is a Hiden Jutsu belonging to the Yamanaka Clan. All of the users seen using this Jutsu are also from this clan. The original purpose of this technique was to gather information. It helps the user infiltrate enemy lines easily, and is better than the transformation Jutsu as it literally takes control of the opponent.
Over the years, this Jutsu has found its way into combat. It is extremely efficient while battling enemies one on one, as the caster can take over the opponent’s body and do as they please. However, this can not be done in a situation with multiple targets as it leaves the user’s body vulnerable to attacks from other opponents.
In the combo Ino-Shika-Cho, the Mind Transfer Jutsu plays an important role. Shikamaru’s Shadow Paralysis Jutsu helps enable the Mind Transfer Jutsu as it holds the opponent still. This combo is also carried over to the next generation of this trio, with their children playing similar roles and with Inojin using the Mind Transfer Jutsu.
Ino uses her Mind Transfer Jutsu on Sakura during the Chunin Exams. It lets her switch bodies with Sakura, and enables her to look at answers she wrote, and to cheat easily.
The trio fights against their reincarnated teacher, but Choji just can’t seem to be able to hit him. This leaves him mostly defenseless and so Ino takes control of him. The perfect combo is topped off with Shikamaru’s Shadow Possession Jutsu which helps Ino’s vulnerable body to fight back.
Ino uses her Mind Transfer Jutsu on Sakura, but it is only a bluff at first. When she does finally make the Mind Transfer, Ino almost concedes from Sakura’s body, but Sakura resists after Naruto’s encouraging words and kicks Ino out of her body.
