Nanara made his anime debut in the Sasuke Retsuden Arc of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations in episode 282, "Sasuke Retsuden: Infiltration".
Following the untimely demise of his father, Nanara was the first in line to take the throne and ascend as the King of Redaku. However, the weight of the crown did not sit well with him, and he refused to accept the responsibility that came with it. Instead, he turned to his sister, Manari, and urged her to take his place as the queen. Without a single complaint, Manari acceded to his wishes and became the monarch in his stead.

However, their joyous moment was short-lived as the Prime Minister and his allies soon persuaded Manari to send Nanara away to Nagare Village. They argued that he was too young to handle the rigors of palace life and that it would be better for him to grow up in a more humble environment. Though Nanara suspected that Manari was being manipulated by her advisors, he chose not to speak out against their decision.
In his heart, Nanara believed that Manari was capable of ruling with honor and distinction. But he could not bear to be the cause of any hardship or resentment on her part. Thus, he made no contact with her after departing from the palace, fearing that his presence might remind her of the burden that he had placed upon her shoulders.

In a cruel attempt to further isolate and diminish Nanara's sense of self-worth, the Prime Minister of Redaku kept him deliberately sidelined and marginalized. He even went so far as to advise the young prince that it was better for him to have others read to him rather than to attempt to learn to read on his own.
However, once Nanara was sent away to Nagare Village, the Prime Minister had a change of heart. He realized that it was imperative for Nanara to receive an education and, as such, sent a series of tutors to teach him.
But to the Prime Minister's chagrin, Nanara proved to be a mischievous student. His propensity for pranks and tomfoolery drove away each and every tutor that was sent his way. Undeterred, the Prime Minister continued to dispatch more teachers in the hopes of finding someone who could break through to the wayward prince.
Through it all, Nanara remained steadfast in his determination to have a little fun at the expense of his educators. His antics served as a defiant reminder that he would not be broken or cowed by the Prime Minister's attempts to control him.
Nanara appears to be a selfless individual who puts the needs of others before his own. He did not want the responsibility of being king and instead convinced his sister to take the throne in his stead, believing that she was capable of ruling with honor and distinction. Despite suspecting that his sister was being manipulated by her advisors, he chose not to speak out against their decision to send him away to Nagare Village.
Nanara also has a mischievous and playful side to him, as evidenced by his penchant for pranks and tomfoolery that drove away his tutors. He appears to be someone who will not easily be broken or controlled, as seen in his defiance against the Prime Minister's attempts to marginalize and control him.

Nanara's distinctive appearance in the anime is marked by his striking emerald green eyes. His hair is short and a blend of gray and brown tones, with stylish jaw-length bangs that frame either side of his face.
Nanara did not possess any formal combat training and based on the information at hand, he does not have any remarkable abilities.
In addition to the Boruto manga and its anime adaptation, Nanara also appears in a novel titled ‘Kakashi Retsuden: The Sixth Hokage and the Failure Boy’.
Out of all the characters in the anime and manga adaptations, Nanara has a unique design that is not the same in both versions.
