Shiba in Naruto

In the past, Shiba was summoned by Kakashi Hataki when he was genin and was a part of Team Minato. He and other Ninken were summoned to divert the path of Kirigakure shinobi, who were behind Kakashi. Later Shiba and others helped to search for Orochimaru.

In the Land of Waves arc, Kakashi summoned Shiba and other Ninken to attack Zabuza Momochi. When they did, Kakashi attacked him with his Lightning Blade (cutter) attack.

In the Sasuke Recovery Arc, Shiba and other ninken were summoned by Kakashi to track down Naruto Uzumaki, who went to bring back Sasuke. In the Sunagakure support mission, Shiba and others investigated the Takumi Village after Kakashi asked them to. In the Kazekage Rescue Mission arc, Shiba and other ninken were asked to track down Sasori by giving them a small piece of his cloth to track him by the smell.

In the Itachi Pursuit Mission arc, Shiba and other Ninken are summoned to track down Itachi Uchiha. Every Ninken was assigned to a different Konoha shinobi, and Shiba was assigned to Sakura alongside Bisuke. They failed to track down Itachi but came in contact with Karin.

Sometime later, after the Pain assault, Shiba and other Ninken were summoned by the Kakashi so they could help Kiba in training. They did just that at first as they defeated Kiba, whose task was to take the scroll from Pakkun back, but while he initially failed to do so, Kiba eventually managed to take the scroll.

During the Five Kafe Summit arc, Kakashi summoned Shiba and other Ninken to deliver a scroll that carries intel to other hidden villages. In the Kakashi Hiden: Lightning in the Sky novel, Kakashi summoned Shiba and other Ninken to search for Exploding Tags, which are planted on the ship's name (Tobishachimaru). Soon they were able to find them and gave them to Might Guy.

Shiba is an intelligent and calm hound.

Shiba has grey and bandages around both front legs. He wears a blue jacket that has the heno-heno-moheji logo. He also wears a Konoha village head protector around his neck. His hair around his forehead is styled with spikes.

Shiba has an amazing tracking technique for smelling any things. He can use the Earth Release technique to confuse his opponent about his location. He has amazing bite force and speed. He can use Dog Wall Formation, Crane Wing Formation, Circular Formation, and Ninken Ninja Art: Dance of the Dust Cloud.
