Shiho's past is shrouded in a great deal of mystery. Her clan and her background are all still unknown to us. She only made a few fleeting cameos in the manga or its anime adaptation. She made her anime debut in Naruto Shippuden's episode 153, "Following the Master's Shadow" as a member of the Hidden Leaf Cryptanalysis Team.
She first appeared in the Pain Assualt Arc in Naruto Shippuden. She helped Shikamaru to decode the encrypted message sent by Master Jiraiya, one of the Three Legendary Sannin of the Hidden Leaf, after his battle against the Six Paths of Pain and unfortunate demise.
She pointed out that the code would be impossible to decode without a key, possibly someone close to Jiraiya. She accompanied Shikamaru while they decoded the message with Naruto’s help. She was with Shikamaru and his father, Shikaku Nara during the destruction of the Hidden Leaf. Shikamaru broke his leg while protecting Shiho in the anime.
She also appeared in the Past Arc: The Locus of Hidden Leaf. She made a brief appearance in the anime alongside Shikamaru as they worked to filter through rescued pictures of locals to return them to their respective owners. Shiho, who was blushing and staring at Shikamaru, explained to Naruto Uzumaki that tulips are a lovely flower that symbolizes eternal love when he asked where he could find any in bloom.
After these appearances, Shiho has not returned. It's hard to tell whether she's dead or alive because she has not made an appearance yet in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. We currently believe Shiho to be well and alive, unless any new information comes to light to the contrary.
Shiho is an intelligent, cheerful woman with a nice personality. She also indicated that she was charmed by Shikamaru’s personality and found herself attracted to him. When Shikamaru suggested that he would return once he has more information to decode the encrypted message, she refused the chance to go home when her boss offered it and fixed herself up for Shikamaru's return.
Shiho blushed as well when Shikamaru agreed to take her up on her offer to go with him to LadyTsunade's office. Although Shiho is mostly calm and maintains her composure, she gets nervous around Shikamaru and often blushed while talking to him.
Shiho has light blonde hair that is pulled back occasionally in a loose ponytail. Her swirl-tinted spectacles conceal her eyes which suggests that she has rather weak eye-sight. She wraps her forehead protector around her waist like a ribbon and wears a white lab coat over her red outfit. She also sported black sandals, the typical footwear of a Hidden Leaf Ninja.
Shiho was a student at the Hidden Leaf Ninja Academy before she became a member of the Hidden Leaf Cryptanalysis Team. Despite this, she only had a fleeting appearance in the series, and there was never any proof that she was wielding any jutsu or special skills. The extent of her skill set is unknown due to a lack of knowledge.
Despite this, Shiho maintains her composure and, despite her youth, is a capable decoder. She assisted Shikamaru and Naruto Uzumaki in deciphering codes, and with the data they provided, she was able to decipher Jiraiya's code.
She also seems to be fairly knowledgeable because she gave Shikamaru and Sakura good advice when they were debating the significance of Jiraiya's letter. Given that she is a Chunin, she undoubtedly possesses some sort of skill.
Other than the manga and its anime adaptation, Shiho is also a part of Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison. Shiho can be seen among the locals as Naruto flashes back to the time he was accumulating nature energy to enter Sage Mode and was with the residents of the Hidden Leaf Village.
