Shikadai Nara in Naruto

Shikadai Nara is the child of Shikamaru Nara and Temari, and since he was born, he has been hanging out with Chocho Akimichi and Inojin Yamanaka to build the relationship between them as all other Ino-Shika-Cho trios had done in the past.

Shikadai started being closer to Boruto Uzumaki as a friend since he met him in the Ninja Academy and also got into trouble because of Boruto. After clearing the entrance, he was placed in Shino Aburame’s class at the Ninja Academy.

Later, as they were practicing shurikenjutsu, Boruto made a scene, which resulted in Shikadai and the others being given the punishment of fixing the Hokage Rock. The following day, Metal Lee attacked Shikadai, Boruto, and Inojin after they discovered him to be unusually violent. They came up with a way to control Metal, and they were able to release him from possession. After some time, A former academy student went on the rampage in Konoha, and Shikadai, Iwabee, and Boruto decided to get him under control. They realized that a mystery youngster had defeated him before they could.

After enrolling in Shikadai's class the following day, Mitsuki was welcomed with a celebration by the entire class. After that, when a possessed repairman went on a rampage at the Academy, Shikadai and his classmates decided to handle the situation.

The following day, Shino ordered his class's troublemakers to join extracurricular activities, while planning for Shikadai, Mitsuki, and Boruto to meet him outside a local forest. When they got there, they discovered that Shino was possessed, and the students ran away from his attacks. Shikadai and Boruto created a strategy to defeat Shino, while Mitsuki drowned and shocked their teacher in a lake, freeing him. Later, as Shino announced his decision to step down as a teacher, the students convinced him to change his mind by apologizing for their previous statements.

Later, as the repeated and apparently random attacks troubled them, Boruto and Shikadai worked to identify the cause and discover why only Boruto could see it. The following day, after Magire Kakuremino left Sumire Kakei a stalker-like note, Shikadai and his other classmates decided to help her. Shikadai and Boruto fought the culprit after a possessed Magire kidnapped Sumire; the fight ended when Chocho rescued the hostage.

One day, Boruto, Mitsuki, and Shikadai made the decision to skip class, and Mitsuki helped them by creating fake parent notes. Temari punished him after discovering his lie. When Shino asks his students to choose a location for their workplace field trip, the three decide on the Central Post Office in Konohagakure. The three rushed to the hospital after hearing news that another attack had taken place at the water filtration plant where Sumire was. Shikadai and his comrades were approached by Naruto, who warned them about the danger of their investigation after finding out that Sumire was okay.

Ultimately, they could not find the culprit behind all the possessions in Konohagakure. Later, Shikadai stopped Boruto from making a scene during the Five Kage meeting.

Shikadai took the Genin exam and passed the written test. In the second round, they had to take the bell from Kakashi Hatake and touch the chest buzzer which the other Academy teacher wore. But in the end, they were not able to get a bell from Kakashi Hatake. Still, Kakashi passed them all because they all showed teamwork and courage. Having become a genin, the Ino–Shika–Cho trio was placed on Team 10 under Moegi Kazamatsuri's leadership.

Shikadai learned about the Byakuya Gang, who stole a collection of jewels from Konoha Bank. One day when he was playing Shogi alone, a boy named Ryogi approached him and played with him till dusk. As the Byakuya Gang committed more crimes, Team 10 was assigned a mission to catch the gang but not fight with them. After some time, Team 10 and Naruto captured Gekko, the real mastermind behind the group who was using his Genjutsu to control Byakuya gang members.

Shikadai and Shikamaru celebrated Parent and Child Day together. Metal, Inojin, and their dads were with them. Temari pushed Shikamaru and Shikadai into participating in the eating contest because she wanted the prize for herself: a year of unlimited free dumplings from Ankorodo. They soon overate and become physically ill, unable to go on. When they reached home, they had to eat dinner while Temari watched them with anger because of their failure in the competition.

Shikadai in the Chunin Exams

As the Chunin exams approached, Moegi gave Inojin and his friends the application forms for the Chunin Exams. Shikadai was unsure about participating because they saw themselves as amateurs. Moegi then handed them letters from their moms, which scared them into participating in the tests.

Team 10 was able to pass stages one and two, and in stage three, Shikadai's opponent happened to be Boruto. They both fought well, but when Shikadai used his secret Nara clan Shadow Expansion jutsu. Boruto used Ninja Tool to use one more shadow clone.

Shikadai felt betrayed by his good friend, but as soon as the fight ended, Kinshiki and Momoshiki Otsutsuki appeared and captured Naruto. After Boruto rescues Naruto with the help of Sasuke and the other Four Kages, Boruto meets Shikadai and apologizes to him, and then they both express their goal to be the best Shinobi.

Shikadai helps Boruto to bring back Mitsuki

After Mitsuki's suspicious missing incident, the village was put on lockdown. Boruto and Sarada went after Mitsuki so they could bring him back to Konoha. Shikadai and his teammates of Team 10, alongside Moegi as their captain, were given the mission to bring Sarada Uchiha and Boruto Uzumaki back to the village. Later they helped Boruto and Sarada to bring back Mitsuki. Shikadai, alongside other Konoha-nin in Mitsuki's rescue journey, fought Garaga in the cave, and later, they fought against Kokuyo and then entered Iwagakure.

After entering the village, it was decided that Inojin should remain outside with the Akuta to prevent drawing attention. Akatsuchi shortly found them. He decided to assist the genin. When they confronted Onoki, the older man, he got sad and turned them away after learning of their intention to find Mitsuki. A group of Akuta then surrounded the group, under the command of Ku, the mastermind of the Iwagakure secret research center.

Onoki told them about his plans. He worried that now that his secret was out in the open and he would need to move quickly to complete them before the other Great Shinobi Countries found out. When Onoki ordered Ku to send them to prison, Boruto somehow created an opening that led everyone to escape except Shikadai, who was caught by Akuta and taken to the same prison where the Fourth Tsuchikage Kurotsuchi was imprisoned. Kurotsuchi explained the past scenario and why Onoki was doing this. Later, the Konoha-nin defeated Ku and his comrades and returned to Konoha village.

Shikadai becomes Chunin

Later, in recognition of both Shikadai's leadership abilities and his sincere commitment to his comrades, Shikadai was promoted to the rank of chunin by both his father and the Seventh Hokage.

He was given the mission of locating the Gekkoran, a rare yet effective medicinal flower that blossoms and bursts, for his first assignment as a squad commander. Iwabee, Wasabi, and Boruto made up his team. They also received Tonsuke, a unique tracking pig with the ability to find flowers by scent. The mission became even more difficult when they were attacked by bandits who caught Tonsuke while Shikadai was wounded, but then they were able to carry out the mission successfully.

Shikadai fights Urashiki Otsutsuki

Temari made a choice to bring a sad Shikadai to her house in Sunagakure and insisted that he should occasionally visit his uncle. Later, when her brothers didn't return after spending time with Sasuke, Temari started to worry about them. She decided to look into it and she brought Shikadai along. They discovered Yodo and Araya returning to the village with Gaara. They described how, when fighting Urashiki Otsutsuki, Sasuke was taken to another realm, and Gaara was hurt despite being able to seal the enemy for a while.

Temari trusted the Suna-nin to look after Gaara. Temari and Shikadai proceeded ahead after learning that Kankuro was assisting Boruto, Shinki, and the Suna-nin in transporting Shukaku to Konohagakure.

They quickly located the scene of the massive explosion that followed Kankuro's battle with Urashiki's puppets. They discovered Boruto had come back, determined to assist the more senior ninja, while looking for Kankuro. The Konoha-nin caught up with Shinki when Shikadai discovered signs of a hole being dug to avoid the explosion. As the last of Urashiki's puppets attacked Shinki and Shukaku, they finally caught up to them.

The puppet used a wide variety of weaponry and assault techniques, making it challenging for the shinobi to fight off. Temari ultimately suffered injuries and partial paralysis while defending her kid. Shikadai allowed Boruto to eradicate the puppet by using his mother's fan.

The decision was made for Boruto to continue on with Shinki and Shukaku. Temari continued to look for Kankuro while Shikadai treated her wounds. They were then assaulted by Urashiki shortly after, who knocked them unconscious and took some of their chakras. Suna-nin eventually tracked down Temari and Shikadai, who were then sent to Konohagakure for hospital treatment after learning that Kankuro was still alive and safe.

Shikadai Warns Boruto About Deepa

Shikadai was tasked with joining Team Shinki to search the Land of Wind for one of Urashiki's last puppets. Before leaving, he discovered Boruto working hard, mastering his Rasengan following his humiliating loss to Deepa and wished him luck. Shikadai's squad stopped for a quick meal on the way to the assignment, where they ran across Deepa, who ignored them.

When they entered the restaurant and saw that everyone inside was dead, they found out that the guy they bumped into was the killer. Later they again encountered Deepa. Team 10 and Suna-nin fought together against Deepa and were somehow able to destroy the last Puppet of Urashiki, which Deepa wanted. When Shikadai returned to Konoha, he was surprised that Boruto was able to perfect his Rasengan, but still, having fought against Deepa, he warned Boruto about Deepa.

Shikadai tracks down Koji

After knowing about Kawai's situation, there is a discussion while playing cards, and both Inojin and Chocho question Kawai's loyalty. Shikadai said that he liked Kawaki personally because of his straightforward approach.

Later, after the Jigen and Naruto scenario, Team 10 heard that the village data was stolen, and no outsider’s chakra was detected. Shikadai told his teammates that it should be someone from the village who had stolen the data, and they decided to look into it. Soon, they discover Kakashi Hatake investigating, and he decides to let Team 10 join. Soon, they discovered the culprit, Koji Kashin, and engaged in battle with him. They get to know that it was just his shadow clone.

Shikadai Taken Hostage

Amado Sanzu, Kara's head scientist, approached the Ino-Shika-Cho trio while they were practicing. They tried to hold him back since they thought he was sketchy. He quickly countered Shikadai's method using his technology, before drugging him unconscious. Aman strapped a device on Shikadai's neck that was meant to detonate in 48 hours. After Inojin informed Konoha-nin, Sai and the others showed up.

When Amado requested to speak with him, Shikamaru was offered communication using the Mind Body Transmission Technique. Amado declared his intention to defect to Konoha while revealing his knowledge of Kara and its assets, including their Ten-Tails and Otsutsuki. Amado was brought in on the Hokage's order for questioning. Soon after the talk, Amado removed the strap from the Shikadai neck.

To raise spirits and recruit chunin after Isshiki's attack, Naruto chose to organize another Chunin Exam. Shikadai encouraged his team members to put more effort into the exam on the day of the second exam, as they would be paid higher for their missions as chunin. They decided to eat at Yakiniku Q together after both of his teammates made it to the finals. Shikadai decided to treat his team members as genin for the last time there, expressing his true desire for them to be promoted.

Inojin was scheduled to face off against Hoki Taketori, one of Sai's genin, in the final exam. Shikadai was impressed when Inojin refused to seek his father for information about him. Despite Inojin's defeat, Shikadai was happy to see him smiling after the game as he watched from the stands. Shikadai discovered Inojin feeling sad before Chocho and Sarada's third match, where he had just lost.

They were stopped by Chocho, who was still upset at having to fight against Sarada, who was her best friend. Shikadai reminded her of their promise to be promoted together so they could stand as equals. She was glad for Sarada after Chocho's defeat, but she and her teammates cried because she had broken her promise.

They encouraged her and said it would be better if they were promoted together rather than making a statement with Shikadai. To Shikadai's disappointment, Boruto and Mitsuki were disqualified from their match since they were late for their match. By the end of the tests, Shikadai was supporting his buddies who had been promoted. Later, he joined his team at Yakiniku Q to celebrate the efforts of his teammates.

Kawaki was placed with multiple teams during his training to become a genin, and he consistently showed poor teamwork. Shikadai expressed his concerns when assigned an escort mission with Team 10, pointing out that the mission required coordination.

Later, Kawaki thanked Shikadai for treating him as a friend and for everything he said to encourage him.

Shikadai is a lazy and very relaxed person who doesn’t want to do extra work or play physical sports, just like his father, Shikamaru. Shikadai does not look much into Ninja Ranks as he greets his uncle Kankuro in a friendly way. He also does not want any trouble and always keeps telling Boruto to stay away from trouble. He has no ego even after becoming the first Chunin in his class. He is also a caring person who always looks after his friends.

He has dark green eyes and spiky black hair tied into a ponytail. He wears a long sleeve cream colored zip jacket with a Nara logo on its back and ties his head protector on his right arm. Except for Shikadai's expression, he resembles how Shikamaru was in his youth.

Shikadai is a born captain, just like his dad and grandfather. He is intelligent and skilled, which made him the first person to be Chunin rank shinobi in his class. Shikadai knows some secret and forbidden Justus of the Nara clan, which he used against Boruto and other opponents he fought against.

Shikadai is learning collaboration ninjutsu methods alongside Inojin and Chocho to synchronize their individual hidden skills, as a member of his generation's Ino-Shika-Cho. He can also use fuinjutsu to limit a person's movement and increase its power in combination with other users.
