After an attack at the Shinonome ceremony, Team 7 hired Taiki to take them and Kagura Karatachi's team to Doto Island. They wanted to find Team 5 and researchers from Konohagakure who were there.
On their journey, they were stopped by a boat belonging to the Funato clan. Taiki tried to bribe them to let them pass, but Kawaki got seasick and revealed their presence. Taiki told Kawaki to throw the Funato clan members off the boat and used a boost to escape.
The Funato boat caught up with them and damaged Taiki's boat. At Kagura's request, Taiki rammed his boat into the Funato mobile fortress to create a distraction so that Boruto, Buntan, and Kawaki could infiltrate it.
After destroying the Chakra Cannon on the fortress, Taiki and the others ended up on a lifeboat, drifting for a while. Their allies came to their rescue with a stolen Funato ship. Taiki was supposed to steer the ship to Kirigakure, but during the night, he was killed by Kobanza of the Funato clan, who had hidden among the Doto Island refugees.
Taiki was a caring and helpful old man but a bit greedy too. He was passionate about ships and boats, so he accepted the dangerous mission.
Taiki was an old-looking man and had grey hair. Most of the time, he has pink blush around his cheeks and nose due to his drinking habit. He wears a fisherman's outfit: a grey shirt and purple dungaree.
