Waraji’s Background

Waraji appeared in the Land of Waves arc when he, alongside Zori, caught Kaiza, who was a threat to Gato’s company. Waraji used to work for Gato and was the one who caught Kaiza to execute him in front of the village.

Waraji later appeared when he visited Zabuza Momochi alongside Gato and Zori after Zabuza failed to kill Tazuna and was injured by Team 7 in his first meeting against them.

When Waraji and Zori tried to kill Haku because he grabbed Gato’s hand when he was about to touch Zabuza, Haku easily countered Waraji and Zori's swords towards them and told them to not touch Zabuza. After seeing Haku’s skill, Gato gave Zabuza a last chance to kill Tazuna.

Gato then told Waraji and Zori to kidnap someone from Tazuna's family. They broke into Tazuna’s house after Team 7 and Tazuna had headed towards the bridge. Waraji and Zori took Tsunami with them and just before they reached the boat, Naruto came and beat them both.

Later, when Team 7 headed back to Konoha village after completing the mission, Naruto realized that he forgot his Ichiraku Ramen shop coupon in Tazuna's house. Inari finds it and goes to give it to Naruto but on the way, Waraji and Zori kidnapped Inari and his friends.

Inari and his friends were able to escape from the room where they were kept. Then, Inari made Waraji and the other thugs run after him because he wanted to divert their attention so his friend could run away. He then ran to a cliff, where he jumped into the river just as Naruto and Sasuke arrived to save him.

When Waraji tried to attack Naruto, he used his Multi Shadow Clone Technique to throw many wooden logs at Waraji and some other thugs to defeat them. However, when the other thugs tried to run away, the Land of Waves villagers came and captured all the thugs.

Waraji’s Personality

Waraji is cruel and overconfident in his skills. He also seems heartless and can kill any animal or anyone for money. He does not have self-respect, which made him follow Gato’s orders.

Waraji’s Appearance

Waraji wears an oversize Kimono. He mostly stays half-naked at the top. He has a plant-like tattoo that goes from his chest to his full left arm. He carries a samurai sword with him and has an eye patch on his right eye. He has brown hair that has a ponytail at the top and there are white bandages around his waist. He also has a goat-like beard and a zigzag pattern in the lower half of his Kimono.

Waraji’s Abilities

Waraji is strong, but skill-wise he is not up to the mark as Naruto defeated him easily even when he was just a genin rank shinobi. He seems to have good physical abilities when compared to normal humans.
