Enter: Naruto Uzumaki! is the first episode of Naruto. The episode begins with a flashback from twelve years ago when the Nine-tails, a vicious beast, attacks the people of Konohagakure. Many of the shinobis fought it but died in the process. Many innocent people died too. The fourth Hokage saved them by sealing the beast inside an infant child. He died in the process of saving the village.
In the present, Naruto Uzumaki, a young boy who loves to play pranks and constantly causes trouble throughout the village, is drawing hilarious graffiti all over the Hokage Rock. Even though the village despises him, he still enjoys the attention that he gets from them, as he doesn't have parents or friends due to the villagers treating him like an outcast. He claims that he wants to become Hokage one day.
Naruto cannot perform basic techniques like the Shadow Clone Jutsu, which causes him to fail in the Academy. One of his teachers, Mizuki, tells him that if he can steal the Scroll of Seals and learn its special techniques, he will be able to graduate from the Academy and start his journey of becoming a shinobi.
Naruto steals the scroll. His other teacher Iruka notices this and decides to follow him. He then realizes that Mizuki tricked Naruto. Iruka tells Naruto not to hand the scroll to Mizuki, as he would want the scroll for himself and it would not help Naruto. When Mizuki arrives and asks for the scroll, Naruto refuses as Iruka told him. Mizuki tries to convince Naruto that he wasn't the one lying, and that the villagers hated him because the Nine-Tails beast which destroyed Konoha twelve years ago was sealed inside him. He also tells Naruto that even Iruka hates him, as the Nine-Tails beast is the one who killed his parents.
Mizuki throws a huge Shuriken at Naruto but he is saved by Iruka just in time before it reaches him. Iruka tells Naruto that Mizuki was wrong, and he never blamed Naruto for what happened to his parents. He also tells Naruto that he empathizes with him, as he also while growing up craved attention. Naruto believes Iruka and uses his Multiple Shadow Clone Technique which he had mastered, and defeats Mizuki.
Iruka is quite impressed and amazed by how Naruto had mastered a complicated technique in such a short time. Iruka then officially makes Naruto a shinobi by giving him Konoha’s forehead protector. He also tells Naruto that he does have the potential to become a Hokage one day.
The major highlight of this episode is the fight between Iruka and Naruto vs Mizuki.
