The Hidden Hot Water Village, Yugakure, is a hidden village in the renowned Land of Hot Water. Not much is known about this village, its founding, or its history. Based on the limited information available, it can be stated that Yugakure is surrounded by hot springs. Due to the numerous hot springs that surround Yugakure, there is thick steam all over the place which covers any visual of the village for outsiders. For the guests of the hot springs, numerous resort hotels have been constructed around the vicinity. Yugakure was first mentioned during the Chunin Exams Arc in the original Naruto series. In the Chunin Arc, a shinobi appeared on screen wearing a headband with a symbol similar to Yugakure.

Unlike most of the hidden villages, Yugakure is a pacifist shinobi village. For years, Yugakure managed to keep bloodshed and battles to a minimum, unlike most hidden villages. Yugakure has officially shifted away from traditional shinobi missions and now it prides itself on being the "village that has forgotten wars." The village's ninjas now conduct odd jobs for the numerous small communities scattered throughout the nation's borders and work almost exclusively within the borders of the Land of Hot Water. Following this, Yugakure soon became a popular tourist destination filled with natural hot springs.

Hidan, who used to be a member of the infamous criminal organization the Akatsuki, also hailed from Yugakure. Hidan did not agree with the path his village had chosen. Hidan believed that it is the duty of a shinobi to fight and shed blood. Hidan is a follower of Lord Jashin (Jashinists) and believed that violence is a good thing. He then started believing that the shinobi of Yugakure are meant to be killed because of their pacifist nature. He then fled the village after annihilating many of his fellow shinobi and was soon classified as a rogue shinobi.
