Zori in Naruto

Zori is a mercenary samurai who kidnap or kills people for money. He is from the Land of Waves and has a partner Waraji. He and Waraji were hired as a bodyguard for Gato when he was alive. He is one of the supporting characters in the Naruto anime series and manga that was written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto.

Zori’s Background

Zori appeared in the Land of Waves arc when he, alongside Gato and Waraji, caught Kaiza who was a threat to Gato’s company. Zori was the one who sliced up Kaiza in front of Inari and the Land of Waves people.

Zori later appeared when he visited Zabuza Momochi alongside Gato and Waraji after Zabuza failed to kill Tazuna and was injured by Team 7 in his first meeting against them.

When Zori and Waraji tried to attack Haku, he immediately turned their own sword toward them and warned them not to touch Zabuza. After seeing Haku’s skill, Gato gave Zabuza another chance to kill Tazuna.

Gato then told Zori and Waraji to kidnap Tazuna's family member which the duo accepted as they broke into Tazuna’s house after Team 7 and Tazuna had headed towards the bridge. Zori took Tsunami with him and just before they reached the boat, Naruto came and beat them both.

Later, when Team 7 headed back to Konoha village after completing the mission, Naruto realised that he forgot his Ichiraku Ramen shop coupon in Tazuna's house. Inari finds it and goes to give Naruto but on the way, Zori and Waraji kidnapped Inari and his friends.

Inari and his friends were able to escape from the room where they were kept and then Inari diverted Zori and other thugs' attention towards him. He then ran to the cliff, where he jumped into the river just as Naruto and Sasuke arrived to save him. The duo then defeated Zori and the other thugs. However, when Zori tried to run away, the Land of Waves villagers came and captured all the thugs.

Years later, Zori again appeared in Itachi Pursuit Mission Arc and he came face to face with Sasuke and Suigetsu Hozuki as they were looking for Zabuza's sword Kubikiribocho. Zori ran away from the area but then again, he encountered Suigetsu and was captured by him and asked about the whereabouts of the sword.

Zori’s personality

Zori is cruel and kills anyone cold-hearted. He loves killing and gambling, just like other thugs. He also picks on weaker opponents and is a coward who runs away when he sees a stronger opponent.

Zori’s Appearance

Zori wears a blue hoodie jacket that has multiple pockets. He has medium straight hair which is covered by a purple beanie and loose brown trousers. He also carries a sword around his waist just like samurai.

Zori’s Abilities

Zori is an average skilled swordsman who is not very strong as he was defeated by Naruto easily when he was just a genin rank shinobi. He was good enough to deal with Naruto’s clone with his sword skills.
