Location

Marineford is an island that is in the shape of a crescent moon. It is made out of bricks and steel and is surrounded by cannons on its edges. The Marine Headquarters stands tall and proud at the back of the Island. Around the building, there is a small mountain with a small building on top and a flag with the Marine symbol placed on top of the roofs.

This place houses Marineford Bay which has an encircling wall installed all around the island and is made up.of thick and high steel walls that emerge from under the sea which surrounds or trap anyone inside the area.

The majority of the Island is surrounded by Marineford Town which is the largest town compared to most towns and cities in the world. It is the home to the families of all the Mariner's families. Oris Plaza is the execution platform of Marineford.

Marineford is known for it's Gate of Justice which is a massive structure that opens into the Tarai current and leads to Impel Down or Enies Lobby.

History

After the news of Gol D. Roger being captured and going to be executed had spread, the 'Golden Lion' Shiki had traveled till Marineford alone as he refused to believe that the Marines were actually able to capture Roger. Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp and Admiral Sengoku had then fought Shiki together and the aftermath of the battle had left Marineford in ruins. Shiki was defeated, captured and then incarcerated in Impel Down.

In the years since, Marineford became the site for war and it took place in the central plaza where Portgas D. Ace was to be executed. Sengoku had carefully planned to surround all the Pirates while Admiral Akainu melted the frozen ice floor that was created by Aokiji to destroy the Whitebeard Pirates crew and their subordinates as well as Luffy and other people from Impel Down.

Due to Oars Jr. the rescue party managed to enter the plaza but they failed to save Ace from dying. In anger Whitebeard tilted the entire island and launched many shockwaves to destroy Marineford's main building with his devil fruit powers.

The Blackbeard Pirates entered the scene and eventually Blackbeard killed Whitebeard and stole his Gura Gura no Mi powers from his dead body. Thus Blackbeard acquired the powers of the Whitebeard's devil fruit and continued destroying Marineford with his new found powers. Aokiji freezes the ocean in order to not let the other Pirates escape.

Trafalgar D. Law goes ahead to pick up a severely injured Luffy who is being carried by Jinbe. As Luffy is being taken away, Akainu tries to attack Koby but its blocked by Shanks who then questions the morality of the Marines.

The war ended thanks to Shanks intervention and Sengoku is seen sitting on a pile of rubble off the Island. Soon after, the rebuilding of the Marineford had started.

Inhabitants of the Island

The people who live on Marineford are:

Monkey D. Garp

Monkey D. Garp is a famous and powerful Marine Vice Admiral. He is the father of Monkey D. Dragon and the grandfather of Monkey D. Luffy. He is also the adoptive grandfather of Portgas D. Ace. He was responsible of overseeing over Ace and raising Luffy before he entrusted them to the Dadan family.

Aokiji

Aokiji was the first Marine Admiral that was introduced in the series. After he lost his fight to Akainu, he left the Marines and it is rumored that Aokiji then joined the Blackbeard Pirates. Aokiji saved the lives of thousands of Marines during the Marineford War. He possesses the Hie Hie devil fruit which allows him to create, control and transform ice at will. Aokiji's haki is also known to be very strong. He is famously known to have saved and reduced the casualty that would have been caused during the Marineford War by a landslide.

Kizaru

Kizaru is first seen during the Sabaody Archipelago arc where he was fighting against the Worst Generation. Kizaru possesses Pika Pika devil fruit which gives him the ability to create and manipulate light at will. He is known to be one of the strongest Marines in the series.

He is considered the strongest because of his devil fruit. His abilities make him the a very dangerous person and not a lot of power match up to his speed. His biggest achievement was attacking Law's ships.

Sengoku

Sengoku is known as the Fleet Admiral who held his ground during the Marineford War and led the Marines to victory. He was held in high regard by Gol D. Roger and also was able to capture Shiki. He possesses the Hito Hito devil fruit which gives him the ability to transform into a golden Buddha.

In this mode, Sengoku can create shockwaves from the palms of his hands and he also possesses the conqueror's haki. Sengoku is known to be the strongest character in the One Piece series. His power is so great that Gol D. Roger also acknowledged it which is considered a huge accomplishment.

Akainu

Akainu was promoted to Fleet Admiral after his battle with Aokiji. He believes in the concept of absolute justice and makes sure that justice is carried out against criminals at any cost. He possesses the Magu Magu devil fruit which gives him the ability to transform and manipulate magma.

This gives him incredible attacking power. He was able to fight Whitebeard (the Strongest Man in the World) and even managed to scare away the Blackbeard Pirates. Akainu is one of the most hated characters in the series as he is responsible for the killing of a lot of innocent people. He is famously known to have gone up against Whitebeard as not a lot of people would have the guts to go up against the Whitebeard Pirates.

Smoker

Smoker also known as 'The White Hunter' is a marine officer and the Commander of the G-5 Marine Base. He was first seen during the Loguetown Arc where he made it clear that he wanted to capture Luffy. After his work in Alabasta, he was promoted to Commodore.
