The Sabaody Archipelago is the last island in Paradise and is near to the Red Line. Despite being referred to as an archipelago, it is really a cast mangrove forest that rises out of the ocean, with each tree acting as an “island” where people live.
It has no magnetic pull to effect a Log Pose because it is only a collection of trees and not an island like the other situated on the Grand Line.
This place is notable since it was the final island that the Straw Hat Pirates collectively explored before they were separated prior to the time-skip. They gathered here once again before leaving for the New World two years after the separation.
The area is a highly visited rest stop for all types of passengers to prepare before entering the New World because it is located close to the portion of the Red Line that borders the first half of the Grand Line and the New World. It is known for the World Nobles who visit there and a robust slave trade that is supported by them, in addition to its distinctive surroundings and status as a growing commercial centre. The Flying Fish Riders are a well-known slave hunting organization, and their headquarters are located a few kilometers to the east of the region.
The base of operations for Marine Headquarters was moved to G-1 in the New World at some point following Sengoku’s resignation and Sakazuki taking charge. As a result, the Sabaody Archipelago became even more lawless.

The Sabaody Archipelago Marine Base had to completely defend the Archipelago on its own while preparing for the Summit War of Marineford. It surrounded the Human Auctioning House with all of its forces when it discovered that Silvers Rayleigh would be sold off here as a slave.
The Marine Base was instructed to stop the Straw Hat Pirates, Heart Pirates, and Kid Pirates from escaping after Monkey D. Luffy punched Saint Charlos for shooting Hachi, and they attacked the Auction House until Admiral Kizaru arrived with some Pacifistas. The three pirate teams that managed to flee entirely defeated the Marine Base, which led to its failure.
When the Straw Hat Pirates attempted to flee from Sabaody, they were confronted by Bartholomew Kuma, who sent each of the crew members flying away to different locations leading to a complete separation of the crew members. This particular instance was a huge turning point for each crew member, as everything from this point started preparing them to become stronger and better with their own individual skills.
After the Summit War of Marineford, Blackbeard used his newfound earthquake powers to send a huge tsunami towards the direction of the Sabaody Archipelago, which created a huge panic on the island.
Two years after the time-skip, the Sabaody Marine Base dispatched marines to make sure that the Fake Straw Hat Crew had returned to the Archipelago after learning that they were looking for fresh recruits. The Marine Base made the decision to evacuate the nearby groves and to send its troops to prepare for the fight when the investigation team “identified” the Fake Pirates.
Sentomaru, the captain of the Science Unit in the Marines informed that he and PX-5 and PX-7 would be traveling directly to GR 46 and that the Marine Base was misjudging the Straw Hat Pirates.
Six platoons of Marines were ordered to seize the Straw Hats but because of various delays, they got stuck and lost the ability to catch them. The platoons were stalled by various allies of the Straw Hat Pirates, i.e. Silvers Rayleigh, Perona, Heracles, Weatheria scientists, okamas, Boa Hancock, and a giant bird that tore down the sails of the Marine ship that was chasing the Straw Hats’ ship.
The natives of the Sabaody Archipelago have learned the art of coexisting with and within the trees and the enormous bubbles they produce. Each tree home serves a particular purpose, many of them are for commercial purposes by the tourists. Like the trees, the bubbles are used for a wide range of purposes, from personal hotel rooms to special helmets worn by World Nobles to keep them from breathing commoners’ air, to transportation tools like bubble bikes called Bon Chari.
The mangrove is important for people who intend to travel further along the Grand Line in order to resupply and get ready for the trip to cross the Red Line. The majority of regular travelers typically remain here and wait until Mary Geoise gives them permission to cross the Red Line on foot. The remainder, including pirates, must usually seek “coating mechanics” scattered across the archipelago in order to coat their ships with the unique resin made by the trees. This resin enables ships to submerge and reach the Fish-Man Island.
Due to the archipelago’s proximity to Mary Geoise’s holy territory, World Nobles can be occasionally spotted traveling through the area. Although they bring wealth and prosperity to the mangrove, their attitudes toward commoners make life miserable for both locals and visitors. World Nobles typically demand perfect obedience since they view commoners as completely beneath them. They expect anyone who steps in their way to bow and move aside.
They also act as they choose to in public without being held accountable, even kidnapping people against their will and shooting them on sight, and anyone who doesn’t agree with what they do faces harsh punishment.
Since the World Nobles see commoners as nothing more than possessions that they can freely do anything they want with, this fosters and legalises a growing slave trade sector that satisfies their needs, a practice that is typically prohibited in the rest of the world. The mangrove is therefore the base of operations for numerous kidnapping groups and bounty hunters.
As a result, these various slave dealers would seize anyone who offers a valuable prize and sell them to the highest bidder to do whatever they like. Even the most ferocious pirates are treated like trash after capture once they have been sold off to a World Noble for anybody else wealthy enough to pay for a slave.
While slave trafficking on Sabaody affects people from all kinds of trade, Fish-Men and Merfolk suffer the most. This is due to Sabaody’s continued clinging to the outdated view that these races are only another variety of fish. When the World Government allied with Fish-Man Island two hundred years before the present timeline, this idea was eliminated. However Sabaody continues to conduct both slavery and this abhorrent act.
As a result, regardless of whether Fish-Men and Merfolk are criminals or not, they are captured because they are only considered to be fish. Thus, the majority of them are compelled to avoid the mangrove. This is such a terrible thing, considering that the majority of them only get access to the mangroves for their childhood fantasy, which is to ride the enormous bubble ferris wheel in Sabaody Park.
To avoid being arrested, anyone who dares to enter the mangrove in order to do business, rediscover a childhood memory, or for any other reason must disguise themselves and act like humans.
Pirates arrive on Sabaody as their final port of call before sailing to the New World to brace themselves for the dangers that lie ahead. If they want their ship coated so they may continue their journey towards the Fish-Man Island, they must stop here.
The mangrove is almost next door to Mary Geoise and Marineford, so they are unable to act as freely as they could before reaching there. Due to this, Sabaody is the most hazardous location for pirates to be in.
Pirates who reach here have to be aware of the Marines or even the World Government in addition to the several powerful abduction and bounty hunting gangs that live in the local mangrove. Famous pirates do not even get to travel freely on Sabaody due to the close vicinity of the World Government and its forces.
They are generally apprehended by the Marine forces, who are usually stationed in the mangrove, unless these forces are engaged in some other activity. Pirates have to exercise restraint in light of the numerous threats they face in Sabaody or else they risk drawing unwelcome attention to themselves.
They are unable to plunder or even engage in conflict with one another. They must avoid attacking any of the World Nobles who visit the mangrove. A massive force of Marines under the command of an Admiral is dispatched to eliminate any and all pirates within the mangrove should they decide to assault a World Noble for any reason. Though, this couldn’t stop Luffy from punching someone for shooting Hachi.
Due to Fleet Admiral Sakazuki’s decision, Marine Headquarters’ base was shifted to G-1 in the New World, making the Sabaody Archipelago more lawless and giving pirates more freedom to operate than before.
Everything on this island is bubble-based, and the Yarukiman Mangroves’ bubbles are used in a number of ways. By simply sitting on it, one can manipulate the bubbles into a cart known as a Bon Charu. The roller coaster, drop tower, and ferris wheel are just a few of the rides and attractions at Sabaody Park that make use of numerous other bubbles.
In some of the island’s lodging facilities, bubbles can also be turned into distinctive hotel rooms. Asid from Fish-Man Island, it is currently the only location where ship coating can be done.
Sabaody Archipelago is a vast Yarukiman Mangrove forest with 79 individual trees in the middle of the ocean. The largest mangrove trees in the world, the Yarukiman Mangrove Trees are strong enough to grow from the ocean’s bottom to its surface. Each tree is referred to as a “grove,” and it acts as an island where people can live. By using the different bridges built to connect around the various tree roots, people can travel from one grove to another.

These are lawless areas where pirates and bounty hunters roam freely. This location has multiple places such as; Human Auctioning House, Shakky’s Rip-off Bar, and the Hound Pets hideout.
This area largely comprises the Sabaody Amusement park with bubble-based attractions. Other notable places here includes; shopping mall, and Sabaody Park.
This area largely comprises shops and souvenir stands. The Thousand Sunny was docked here in one of the groves. Flying Fish Rider’s base can also be found in one of these mangroves. After the two year time-skip, the Straw Hats assembled and so did the Fake Straw Hats.
This is a shipping area. During Blacbeard’s tsunami shock during the Summit War of Marineford, people present at the Sabaody Archipelago to watch the entire war, shifted to this location.
This is where the local headquarters for the Marines is located.
This location is mainly a hotel town.
Due to its proximity to the only two crossing places on one side of the globe, the placement of the mangrove forest is essential for excursions along the Grand Line. The only two places (Mary Geoise and Fish-Man Island) that bridge to the opposite side of the equatorial ocean are exactly in the same location, with one at the top of the Red Line and the other in a vast tunnel beneath the Red Line in the depths of the ocean.
The Sabaody Archipelago’s location is ideal for anyone who has to get ready to travel this part of the ocean by either method since this is the sole point where one can enter the New World. As a result, everyone uses the Sabaody Archipelago to rest and stop as they reflect on their prior trips and get ready to enter the New World, from high-ranking nobles to traveling pirates.

The Sabaody Marine base is a Marine base that oversees security for the Sabaody Archipelago. It is situated on GR 66. The Marine Base’s power stretched from GR 30 to GR 79 when the Straw Hat Pirates first arrived, leaving GR 1 to 29 as a lawless region where pirates and bounty hunters control.
The Marine Base’s influence diminished after the Marine Headquarters’ base was relocated to the New World, making the Archipelago less safe and harder to defend.
Shakky’s Rip-off Bar is located in Grove 13 of the Sabaody Archipelago. Shakuyaku is its owner. It is infamous for both Shakky’s practise of beating up clients who refuse to pay (thus the term Rip-off Bar) and its high prices.
The Human Auctioning House was a hub for the slave trade and a place where living things could be bought and sold as slaves. It is located on Grove 1 in the Sabaody Archipelago.
Sabao Dome is a performance venue located on Grove 33 in the Sabaody Archipelago. It is located on groves 30-39.
Sabaody Park is a famous entertainment park at the Sabaody Archipelago. It is located on groves 30-39.
Antonio’s Graman is a store selling goods and souvenirs on the Sabaody Archipelago. It is owned by Antonio, who also runs it.
After the Roger Pirates were disbanded and Gol R. Roger was executed, Rayleigh started working as a coating mechanic at the Sabaody Archipelago. Later, he became Shakuyaku’s husband at some point and befriended Hatchan.
Shakuyaku, also known as Shakky, was the former empress of Amazon Lily two generations prior to Boa Hancock. She works as a bartender at Shakky’s Rip-off Bar on the Sabaody Archipelago, where she lives with her partner, Silvers Rayleigh.
Disco is the owner of the now-defunct Human Auctioning House at Grove 1 in the Sabaody Archipelago.
Antonio is the proprietor of “Antonio’s Graman” in the Sabaody Archipelago.
Rear Admiral Catacombo is the Base Commander of the GR 66 Marine Base on the Sabaody Archipelago. He led the team to capture the Straw Hat Pirates.
Kairiken is a bounty hunter at Sabaody Archipelago.
Minoruba is also a bounty hunter at Sabaody Archipelago.
Marie is Saint Charlos’ twelfth wife. She was Judy’s fiancée and a nurse in the Sabaody Archipelago before becoming Charlos’ slave.
Duval was the leader of the Rosy Life Rides, the former Flying Fish Riders kidnapping gang in the vicinity of Fish-Man Island and the Sabaody Archipelago. He protected the Thousand Sunny while the Straw Hats were separated for two years.
Kuma protected the Thousand Sunny for two years in the Sabaody Archipelago. He was made a slave-to-rent for the World Nobles as a punishment until being set free by his fellow revolutionaries.
This is the only location that the Straw Hat Pirates have visited twice so far; they split up there during the Summit War Saga and came back together there at the start of the FIsh-Man Island Saga.
After Water 7, this is the second place that was seen twice.
Its name is a play on the Portuguese word “sabo,” which means “soap,” and it reflects the island’s distinctive ecosystem, in which the trees form bubbles that resemble those seen in soap.
The name of this place was translated as the “Shabondy Archipelago” by several scanlation groups based on the Japanese sound of the term before the actual Romaji spelling of the archipelago was made public.
The direction romanization of what is written in katakana (シャボン), shabon is pronounced [çabon]. But in reality, it is the soap-related Portuguese loanword Sabo. The Portuguese word for “sabo” is pronounced [s’ɐbnãῦ], and the nasal vowel at the end cannot be accurately translated into Japanese. As a result, any nasal vowel is automatically replaced with a compound sound in Japanese, the second of which is the nasal “-n”. Thus, Shabon is how Japanese speakers pronounce the Portuguese word Sabo.
It used to be mislabeled as “Sabaody” on the Log Collections page of Toei’s official One Piece website. The archipelago is referred to as “Sabaody” on both the more recent official website and in the actual Log Collection.
The Straw Hat Pirates were separated at the Sabaody Archipelago when Bartholomew Kuma sent each member flying away to different locations. Ironically, this is also the place where the crew got back together to set sail again to the New World.
Before the time skip Luffy was 17 years old, and after the time-skip, he got 19 years old.
Bartholomew Kuma defeated Luffy in Sabaody when the crew reached there before the time-skip. However, Kuma was helping the Straw Hats crew in reality which was revealed later.
