History

Past

When Koala was a child, she was kidnapped and sold as a slave to the World Noble. When she was eight years old, Fisher Tiger attacked Mary Geoise and freed her and countless slaves. Koala escaped with a group of people and left the island but the people did not have a way to return back home. When the Sun Pirates came along, the people of the island told them to take Koala with them and she joined the Sun Pirates. Koala then met Arlong who was very hostile towards her because she was a human. Tiger gave her the Sun Mark to cover up her Slave Mark. He told Koala that she was allowed to cry if she wished and made a vow to return her to her hometown, to which Koala began to cry.

The Sun Pirates found an Eternal Pose for Foolshout Island (Koala’s hometown) and gave it to Koala. She said goodbye to everyone and Tiger took her to her home. When she reached Foolshout Island, everyone was happy but they were scared of Tiger. Later on, when Tiger was attacked on his way back, the people from the previous island called the Marines and told them about the Sun Pirates. The people on Foolshout allowed this on the condition that they overlooked the fact that Koala was a slave and not take her back. After Fisher Tiger died, Koala joined the Revolutionary Army and became a Fishman Karate assistant instructor. She even became friends with Sabo and Hack.

Dressrosa Arc

During the Dressrosa Arc, Koala, Sabo, and Hack came to Dressrosa to stop the weapon trade that was promoted worldwide. After defeating a number of enemies, Koala called Sabo and asked him about his encounter with Luffy, she also told him that he also could not have prevented Ace’s death. Sabo told her to inform him if any underground movement took place. She disguised herself and went to the Corrida Colosseum to watch the matches and after Sabo got the Mera Mera no Mi, she went underground to give Sabo his hat. The members of the Revolutionary army told Rebecca their objective in Dressrosa.

After Koala and Sabo met with Nico Robin again, they watched Doflamingo create the ‘Birdcage’ and make the game where the citizens were given a choice to kill him or a list of people he offered to them. The hit list included Sabo, Robin, Rebecca, and Ussop. They all ran away from there as people started to come at them. Koala stayed at the underground trade port to continue investigating and she found out that the ships at the trade port were merchant ships disguised as pirate ships. She then met up with Sabo and told him what she found out and even scolded him, and got into fighting Admiral Fujitora on his own.

Koala then infiltrated the palace and told Sabo to come there as soon as possible as Luffy’s life was in danger. She spied on Jesus Burgess to see what he was up to. When Doflamingo was defeated, Koala, Hack, and the revolutionaries took care of the underground trade port and waited for Sabo. Koala tried to call him but he did not respond till he had defeated Burgess. When she finally got through to him, he asked her about the list and then hung up on her. Koala was annoyed by this and took it out on her allies. When the revolutionaries left Dressrosa, they took all the weapons and evidence that was about the Donquixote Pirates’ smuggling before CP0 could get to them.

Sliver Mine Arc

During the Silver Mine Arc, Koala and a few revolutionaries were on a ship that was far away from Gran Tesoro.

Zou Arc

During the Zou Arc, Koala told Dragon that the weapons that they retrieved from Dressrosa had a special mineral known as Liquor Iron Ore which could give a clue where the weapons were made. Dragon told Koala to gather all the revolutionary leaders.

Levely Arc

During the Levely Arc, the Revolutionary Army escaped the destruction of Baltigo and moved their base to Momoiro Island. Koala was telling Ivankov about how Sabo had been smiling all day, reading about Luffy’s adventure in Totto Land.

Egghead Arc

After the Revolutionaries rescued Bartholomew Kuma from Mary Geoise, Koala was next to Dragon when he said that he would not forgive if Sabo had actually tried to kill King Nefertari Cobra. She was sad when she saw that Kuma was under the influence of his Pacifista programming. Koala and the other captains saw Sabo come back to Momoiro Island along with the Lulusia survivors and she was sad that Sabo did not tell her or the others that he was safe, but she was relieved to see him.

Personality

As she was a slave, Koala was apologetic and promised that she would never cry as she was told that if she cried then she would be killed. After joining the Sun Pirates, she was surprised that they would not kill her if she cried or stopped cleaning. She used to have a tendency to panic and could not trust anyone. It is unknown if Koala was actually paranoid or not. When Tiger told her that they were not like the Celestial Dragons, she cried for the first time in years. She regarded the Sun Pirates as her family. After her encounter with the Sun Pirates, she had a great admiration for Fishmen and created strong bonds with them.

Koala's Personality
Koala

As she grew older Koala became more mature and showed sympathy towards others. She is also very playful and cheery but she is seen having a temper and can get angry if someone close to her acts recklessly.

Appearance

When she was young, Koala was a skinny girl with long, unkempt brown hair. She had large, round eyes which were like a koala, and was always seen smiling. She wore a dirty short-sleeved collared shirt and over it, she wore dark overalls and there was a smudge on her right cheek. As she used to be a World Noble Slave, she had the Celestial Dragon mark on her back which was then replaced by the Sun Pirates mark by Fisher Tiger.

As an adult, she has neat shoulder-length hair with a slim and curvaceous body. She wore a crimson newsboy cap with gold goggles, a pink shirt with a frilly collar, and a maroon short skirt with black thigh-high stockings. She paired all this with brown high-heeled boots.

Koala’s abilities, strengths, and fighting style

Koala’s abilities, strengths, and fighting style
Koala

Koala is skilled enough to take down big enemies and has great agility. She can jump from tall heights easily. She is above all revolutionary soldiers and within decent fish-men standards of combat, despite being a human.

Koala’s special abilities

Fishman Karate

Koala is skilled in Fishman Karate and uses it to fight and defend herself from enemies twice her size. Even though she is not a Fishwoman, she is able to learn the art, which is impressive. She is very proficient with this skill and can take down her enemies with a single strike.

Relationships

Family

All that is known about Koala's family is her mother. She hugged her after reuniting with her when Tiger brought her home, demonstrating how much she loves her mother. It is unknown whether Koala ever realized her mother and the other residents of her own island had betrayed Tiger by giving him to the Marines.

Sun Pirates

During her time with the Sun Pirates, Koala enjoyed the love of the majority of the crew. They recognized that Koala's condition and the reason for her actions was because she used to be a slave. While she was traveling with them, they looked after and protected her, and they were extremely sad to see her leave. She loved them all, but Hachi, Jinbe, and Macro were her favorites.

Fisher Tiger

Fisher Tiger had set Koala free and brought her back to her family, and she was quite grateful. Despite her love for the fishmen, Fisher Tiger said that he was unable to love people. As a result, he was unable to show her any love in return. Even still, he declined to take her hand even as he grinned at her when she got home.

Arlong

Arlong fought against her being on the Sun Pirates' ship the entire time, threatening to beat or murder her since she was a human being. Arlong seems to have been affected by Koala in the long term.

Nico Robin

Nico Robin was saved by the revolutionaries before the time skip, and she and Koala seem to have a close friendship. She mentioned that she hadn't seen Robin in a while during a talk she had with Sabo on Dressrosa. When Koala does run to see Robin later, she gives her a big hug.

Sabo

Koala and Sabo have been friends since Koala was a teenager, and they are close friends. As a result, she has gotten to know him quite personally and is aware of his friendship with Ace and Luffy as well as his regret over not being at Marineford to save Ace. She comforted Sabo by explaining that it was hard to predict whether or not Sabo would have had any effect. Even though they get along well most of the time, Koala squeezed Sabo's cheeks when she became upset with him for opposing Fujitora and disregarding his Revolutionary responsibilities by leaving his job.

Hack

Hack is a fellow soldier in the Revolutionary Army who practices Fish-Man Karate. After losing the Corrida Colosseum competition, he wanted to get in touch with her but was unable to since Sugar transformed him into a toy. He regretted the fact that Koala was waiting for him to report, not realizing that she had overlooked him as a result of the Hobi Hobi no Mi's effects. Koala quickly told Hack that Sabo was heading to the basement when Sugar was knocked unconscious and she was able to remember him again. They both hate Sabo's tendency to wander off during missions. He taught her Fish-Man Karate, and she finally advanced to the position of Assistant Fish-Man Karate Instructor.

Monkey D. Dragon

Koala firmly supports Dragon. Dragon congratulated Koala for finding weapons on Dressrosa and helping them in finding their lost comrades as she returned to Baltigo completing the operation. He also seems to have enough faith in her to entrust important duties to her, like calling the other Revolutionary leaders.

Belo Betty

Kaola and Belo Betty have a very casual relationship. Koala cheerfully says to Belo Betty that she supports Dragon's campaign to overthrow the Celestial Dragons rather than the World Government in spite of this.

Bartholomew Kuma

Not much is known about her relationship with Kuma, although it is clear that Koala was upset to learn that he had been reduced to a mindless machine after being freed from slavery.

World Nobles

Koala used to be scared of the Celestial Dragons since they had once held her captive. She dealt with the issue by grinning and obediently following their instructions to prevent punishment. She eventually joined the Revolutionary Army after being freed by the Sun Pirates, but over time she has come to hate them for their wickedness and continuous use of slavery.

Marines

It is unknown if Koala knew that her village had turned on the Sun Pirates for the Marines in order to protect her from being sold back into slavery. She is seen scolding Sabo for purposefully confronting one of their Admirals.

Koala is seen fighting against the Blackbeard Pirates but the fight has yet to be animated.
