Boodle in One Piece

Boodle, a refugee from a town destroyed by pirates, proposed building a new town on an uninhabited part of the Organ Islands. Over forty years, he led efforts to develop the wilderness into the bustling port of Orange Town. Boodle had a unique friendship with a pet-food merchant named Hocker, and when Hocker died, his dog Chouchou fell into Boodle's unofficial care.

Three months after Hocker's death, Buggy the Clown and his crew invaded Orange Town. Unable to oppose them, Boodle and the citizens fled, leaving Chouchou behind. Boodle would sneak back to feed Chouchou.

Orange Town Arc

During one of his feeding trips, Boodle discovered Nami, Zoro, and Monkey D. Luffy, with Luffy trapped in a cage attacking Chouchou. Understanding the situation, Boodle sent the wounded Zoro to recuperate in his house.

He explained Chouchou's story but fled when Buggy's First Mate Mohji and his lion Richie approached. Chouchou and Luffy fought against Richie and Mohji, with Luffy avenging Chouchou. Boodle was shocked to find Hocker's shop burned down by Mohji.

Boodle, deeply moved by Luffy and Chouchou's efforts, proclaimed Orange Town his treasure and vowed to defend it. His house was destroyed by Buggy's bombardment, strengthening his resolve. Despite Nami's protests, Boodle confronted Buggy but was overpowered. Luffy intervened, saving Boodle, who rejected help, insisting on fighting alone. Luffy, seeing him as a liability, knocked him unconscious.

After the Straw Hats defeated Buggy's crew, Orange Town's evacuees returned and, finding Boodle unconscious, mistook the Straw Hats for invaders. Boodle woke up, realizing his debt to the Straw Hats. He raced to the harbor, thanking the departing trio.

Buggy's Crew Adventure Chronicles

After the Straw Hats left, Boodle, Chouchou, and the townspeople swiftly forced the remaining Buggy Pirates out of Orange Town.

From the Decks of the World

Two years later, with Orange Town mostly recovered, Boodle and Chouchou co-hosted the grand opening of a new pet-food shop named in Chouchou's honor.

Boodle is deeply devoted to the town and its residents. He shows care for individuals like Hocker and, after Hocker's passing, for his loyal pet Chouchou. While typically practical and composed, Boodle's dedication can lead him to take unnecessary risks fueled by a strong, almost childlike pride in Orange Town.

Boodle is an elderly man with glasses, curling gray hair (black in his youth), and a distinctive bunched hairstyle. He usually wears simple shirts and shorts with sandals. In his younger days, he briefly wore brown leather armor during the Buggy Pirates' occupation of Orange Town.

Post-timeskip, he has a bowtie, and while he has more wrinkles, his overall appearance remains similar.

In his youth, Boodle was strong and engaged in farming and carpentry. Despite lacking combat skills, he opposed the Buggy Pirates with a spear. In later years, he was easily overpowered by both Buggy and Luffy.

In addition to the One Piece manga and its anime adaptation, Boodle is a playable character in One Piece Bon! Bon! Journey!!, and also appears in the following games as a non-playable character:
