Faust, born in North Blue, joined the Hawkins Pirates at some point. During the Sabaody Archipelago Arc, he witnessed his captain, Basil Hawkins, fighting Admiral Kizaru. Later, after the Marineford war, Faust listened to Hawkins discussing Monkey D. Luffy's survival.
In the Post-War Arc, Faust was present when the crew arrived at Foodvalten, where Hawkins prepared to face the Brownbeard Pirates. During the Dressrosa Arc, he celebrated the alliance formed with the Kid Pirates and On Air Pirates. At the party, Kaidou's sudden arrival caused Faust and others to be blown back by the impact.
Not much is known about Faust’s personality due to his sparse appearance.
Faust is a cat mink with light-colored fur (black in the anime and tan in the Digitally Colored Manga Post-Timeskip). He has a large thin mouth, and yellow eyes, and wears a distinctive outfit consisting of a long, dark blue cloak, a white and red striped shirt, a green sash around his waist, purple pants, brown shoes, a white ruff, and a necklace with a cross on it.
Faust is described as a "magician," indicating he likely possesses unique skills or abilities. As a mink, he has natural combat abilities and can use Electro, an electric-based fighting technique.
Additionally, he has the potential to transform into his powerful Sulong form when exposed to the full moon, although it's uncertain if he can control this transformation.
Faust's name may be inspired by the legendary German scholar known for supposedly selling his soul to the Devil for knowledge and pleasures, aligning with the black magic theme of the Hawkins Pirates.
In a playful manner during SBS Volume 86, Oda hinted that Faust uses "meowgic," adding a whimsical touch to his character.
Unlike other minks, Faust stands out as the only known one not originating from Zou, introducing a unique aspect to his background.
In the Digitally Colored Manga, Faust initially appeared black like in the anime before the timeskip. Post-timeskip, his color was adjusted to tan to better match the manga's shading.
