After discovering the Poneglyph in the Shandorian Golden Belfry Bell, Gan Fall helped Gol D. Roger and his crew leave Skypiea. While Gan Fall worked to bring harmony between the Shandian and Skypiean peoples, he consistently encountered opposition from a faction. Wyper's unreasonable demands prevented Gan Fall from reaching a compromise with the Shandia.
The Shandia took offense at Gan Fall's casual comment about how much he liked pumpkin juice, which sparked tensions because of their relationship with the pumpkin farming industry. When Enel attacked with his army and defeated both Gan Fall and the Shandia at the same time, Gan Fall lost his position as God.
After Enel declared himself the God of Skypiea, Gan Fall went into hiding. During Enel's rule, Gan Fall used a mercenary persona, referring to himself as the Knight of the Sky and demanding 5,000,000 Extol in exchange for his assistance.
When the Straw Hat Pirates first arrived in the White Sea, Gan Fall saved them from Wyper. He tried to sell them his services, but he gave them one of his whistles for free because he was impressed by their dedication to using the Knock Up Stream to reach the sky.
He left the Straw Hats after introducing himself and Pierre. Afterwards, he stepped in to save Conis from the fury of Enel's judgment. She begged for him to go back to his divine status, as he brought her to his house for her own protection.
Gan Fall gave her an explanation of what pirates are and why Luffy's crew was made up of people like that in the first place. Nevertheless, Gan Fall clarified to Conis and her father that rather than being outright criminals, the Straw Hats were most likely just decent people who disobeyed the law. He told them that when he was still the god of Skypiea, more than twenty years ago, he too had a pirate for a friend.
Gan Fall then told Conis the story of the legend that said the war in Skypiea would end when Upper Yard sang the lovely song. Pierre called to Gan Fall as he headed to Upper Yard, and he quickly had to leave them while Conis and her father were speaking to him.
After he heard Chopper blow the whistle, he ran to protect him from one of the Shura. After that, they went into an intense battle in which they both proved to be equal opponents. Afterwards, Chopper had to win the battle in order to keep Gan Fall and Going Merry. When Chopper and the other Straw Hats reunited, Gan Fall’s injuries were being treated.
Gan Fall came during a festive bonfire and told Robin that the items that Knock Up Stream carried from the Blue Sea to the White Sea were considered a treasure. Most valuable was the soil known as Vearth, which the Skypieans held in a religious sense because it is far more capable of supporting plant life than clouds.
Knowing that Enel would probably be present, they set out the following day to locate Shandora, the lost city of gold. At this point, Enel believes that in a few hours, he and the other five players in the Survival Game will be the only ones remaining. Then God's private army's two lieutenants, Hotori and Kotori, launched an attack on the three.
Gan Fall attacked Kotori by simultaneously dodging and striking with his dials. Although Kotori and Hotori believed they defeated Gan Fall, they were underestimating him. Kotori was instantly defeated by Gan Fall, who launched an instant counterattack against him using the smoke that was released during the explosion. Hotori was launched into the river by Nami's "cyclone" attack, which she launched simultaneously with her Clima-tact.
Nami used Gan Fall's Impact Dial to kill Hotori, but Hotori refused to give up and came from the river where he had fallen to exact revenge on both of his brothers. After that, Gan Fall and Pierre went to God's Shrine to look for Enel and attempt to stop him. When he arrived, he discovered that the location had been abandoned.
He decided he had to be at Shandora City and set out to find the lost ruins. After searching, he found himself in the domain of God's Priest Ohm, who made him get into battle with the enormous snake Nola.
He got into a fight with Wyper, who insisted on siding with no one and that only he was allowed to kill Enel. After that, Gan Fall and Pierre got swallowed and imprisoned inside the snake's stomach, where they met Aisa, a Shandia girl, and Luffy again. Luffy's pounding of the inner walls caused the snake to release them, but after Luffy and Aisa were knocked off by Nami's Waver, Gan Fall sent Pierre to assist them while he traveled outside of Nola by himself with Nami.
After he made his escape, he was selected as one of the Survival Game's expected survivors. Enel informed them that one member would have to leave since there was one too many. Then they all threw challenge at Enel. Gan Fall launched an attack, but Enel's thunderbolt with 200 million volts swiftly brought him down.
When Luffy eventually arrived, he decided to take care of Skypiea. Due to demand from the public, Gan Fall resigned from his position as Knight of the Sky after Enel's defeat and once more assumed the title of "God" of Skypiea.
While joking that Luffy and Gol D. Roger had the same initial, Gan Fall discussed with Robin how Luffy resembled Gol D. Roger. After letting the Straw Hats go, he went back to his task of bringing his people back together.
The Shandia Chief and Gan Fall were seen speaking while sipping pumpkin juice.
Gan Fall and the Shandia Chief were seen commemorating the harvest.
Gan Fall is an old man with a big heart. He will help a stranger even if it means putting himself in danger. He’s got a diplomatic approach to situations instead of acting like a warrior.
Gan Fall is an elderly man with long white hair, a beard, and a moustache who is of average height. He wears brown slacks and a dark red shirt under metal armor. Also, he always wears the knight's visor. He wears a long, dark blue cloak with yellow trim on the inside and back.
He wore a different outfit when he played the role of God of Skypiea. It seems that he doesn't have wings, despite being a Skypiean. After the timeskip, Gan Fall still has the same usual look but his clothing style changed. He has given up wearing his armor for a pair of black shorts, and sandals that resemble Luffy. His hair is tied back in a ponytail similar to Benn Beckman's.
After eating the Uma Uma no Mi Devil Fruit, Gan Fall’s pet bird Pierre has the ability to transform into a Pegasus or a full horse. Gan Fall travels to Skypiea with the help of Pierre's Devil Fruit abilities. Despite his old age, he is still a very strong fighter as his wisdom makes up for his lack of strength. Gan Fall said that he is not able to use the Mantra.
Gan Fall knows a lot about dials and how to use them. He is able to withstand the force released by the Impact Dial because it is located inside his left gauntlet. He seems to be very skilled with a Lance.
Roger became friends with Gan Fall, and during his crew's visit, Gan Fall helped the future pirate king on his way down to the Blue Sea. Gan Fall said that Roger left him with amazing memories.
During the Skypiea Arc, Gan Fall was an important ally of the Straw Hat Pirates. As soon as the pirates reached the White-White Sea, he protected the crew from Wyper's attack and gave them a unique whistle they could use to call for him in an emergency.
After having the pirates take care of his wounds, Gan Fall helped Nami fight off Hotori and Kotori and saved Tony Tony Chopper from Shura. Gan Fall teamed up with Nico Robin and Roronoa Zoro in the last stages of the Survival Game to battle Enel.
Enel took Gan Fall's throne when he and his army invaded Skypiea, becoming God. Enel ordered his priests to cast Gan Fall out of the country because he was too old to be a slave, but Gan Fall made it through and continued to serve as a mercenary in Skypiea. He was extremely angry with Enel and thought of him as cruel and inhuman.
Gan Fall was also worried about his Divine Squad, which Enel had forced into labour as slaves in order to construct Ark Maxim, only to have them killed off. The last straw was when Enel wanted to destroy Skypiea just because he thought that its existence was abnormal. Enel had a habit of making fun of Gan Fall, paying no attention to his age or his appearance, and not taking the Upper Yard Survival Game seriously.
Gan Fall's relationship with the Shandia Tribe was complicated because of the disputes that were taking place for a long time. Wyper and the other Shandia youth were not interested in peace negotiations unless Gan Fall personally offered the lives of deceased Skypieans as a sacrifice. The Shandia still saw Gan Fall as an enemy, even after Enel became God.
Only in the last moments of the survival game at Upper Yard did Wyper agree to reluctantly join Gan Fall in the fight against their common enemy. After Enel's defeat, the people of Skypiea and the Shandia Tribe acknowledged Gan Fall's return as God, and Wyper and the other fighters assumed the role of God's Guards.
